Clavision Snow Ruyi Group B Results

fragster Radu M. 31. July 2024

With the group stage of Clavision Snow Ruyi completed, it’s time to look at the results and make some predictions about the playoffs.

In group B, there were three Chinese teams that were expected to do well and two underdogs that were expected to do poorly. In the end, one of the underdogs surprised everyone, and only two of the three Chinese representatives performed at the predicted level.

We don’t know what is happening internally with Azure Ray’s roster but it’s obvious that they’re going through massive problems. They failed to qualify for The International 2024 and finished 19th – 20th at Riyadh Masters 2024. They also played poorly at most of the other tournaments this year.

The team is in shambles right now and only two players, Lou and Faith_bian, are still officially part of the active roster. For a team that was created in May 2023, Azure look like they’re about to quit Dota 2 completely. If they don’t, they will need to bring in new players and change their strategy.

After the end of The International 2024, lots of great Chinese players will likely be searching for an org to join. That’s when Azure Ray will have the best opportunities to build a more capable Dota 2 roster.

Group B Results

Here’s what happened in group B of Clavision Snow Ruyi:

  • 1st place: G2.iG: 3 W – 1 L; 7-4
  • 2nd place: Nigma Galaxy: 3 W – 1 L; 7-4
  • 3rd place: Xtreme Gaming: 3 W – 1 L; 7-5
  • 4th place: Azure Ray: 1 W – 3 L; 4-6
  • 5th place: Talon Esports: 0 W – 4 L; 2-8

As you can see, Nigma Galaxy played much better than the pre-tournament statistics predicted and what is strange is that they did it with two stand-ins.

G2.iG performed well but everyone expected them to finish in the top three. Maybe not to win the group, but certainly to secure an upper bracket spot for the playoffs.

The only cause for concern was their Riyadh Masters result. They practically finished last there and had a terrible performance, but prior to that they were 4th at PGL Wallachia Season 1, 2nd in the TI13 Qualifier, 5th – 6th at ESL One Birmingham, and 7th – 8th at Elite League S1.

Talon Esports had an abysmal performance and will likely get eliminated in the first match of the playoffs. Virtus.pro looked a lot stronger than them, so I don’t see how they could possibly beat them. Despite having pieliedie as their coach, Talon do not have a single world-class player who can lead them to victory.
