Clavision Snow Ruyi Group A Results

fragster Radu M. 31. July 2024

The group stage of Clavision Snow Ruyi is over and we now know who are the six teams that will start the playoffs in the upper bracket.

One thing to keep in mind is that the format of this Dota 2 event is very forgiving. After the group stage, not a single team was eliminated. Instead, the participants received upper bracket and lower bracket spots based on their performance.

On top of that, the strongest team in each group advanced directly to the second round of the upper bracket, which means that one more victory would be enough to secure a top three result at the tournament.

But even the lower bracket teams have a good chance of improving their placement. Every match is a best-of-three series, so nothing is decided based on some lucky or unlucky game alone.

Group A Results

In group A of Clavision Snow Ruyi, Team Spirit had an excellent performance and won with a record of 3 W – 1 L. Three other teams followed them with a record of 2 W – 2 L but each of them had different W-L game scores:

  • Natus Vincere: 6-4
  • LGD Gaming: 4-4
  • Virtus.pro: 4-5

Team Zero finished 5th with one victory and three defeats.

Throughout the first stage of Clavision Snow Ruyi, we were able to see very clearly that the skill difference between the teams is not that big. Even Spirit lost a match against VP, and this version of VP doesn’t have a single world-class player.

The coach, on the other hand, is G, a famous former Russian player who finished 5th – 6th at The International 2015. He also obtained a 5th – 8th result with VP at The International 2023, as their coach.

LGD were expected to do much better but it seems that the Chinese region is in trouble again. In 2024, the only team that impressed was Xtreme Gaming. And even they had bad moments and failed events.

An exciting team to watch in the playoffs will be Natus Vincere. Since they changed their roster and signed top players like yuragi, this team has undergone a massive transformation.

This season, there’s not much else that they can do because they failed to qualify for The International. But at this pace of improvement, they will surely obtain good results in 2024 – 2025.

Everyone is eager to see Natus Vincere start to qualify again for the tier-1 tournaments. The same is true for Team Secret, KuroKy’s Nigma Galaxy, and others. But it’s harder and harder to believe that most of these teams will bounce back after years of poor results.
