The September 2025 update of Clash of Clans remains one of the largest updates the game received in many years. Normal attacks no longer have trophies, there are new battle systems, and an assortment of quality of life changes makes the game feel easier but also very different. To most players it is an exhilarating new feeling; to some it is like they are losing something they know.
New Battle Modes

Supercell has added two new styles for multiplayer: Battle Mode and Ranked Battles.
- Battle Mode is open to all Town Hall levels. Attacks here are unlimited, and matchmaking now depends on Town Hall, not trophies anymore. Since trophies are removed in this part, it is more casual, mostly about farming and raiding.
- Ranked Battles, which unlock at Town Hall 7, is more serious play. There are only six attacks each week, matchmaking follow leagues, and trophies decide your rank. At the end of every League Tournament, trophies reset, so everyone start again from beginning.
Trophies and Shield Changes
Trophies gone in Battle Mode, so no more trophy dropping like before. But in Ranked Battles trophies still remain important for ranks. Shields also are working differently now. They act like Guards, meaning you can go attack and the shield time not reducing. This encourage more activity without being punished.
Quality of Life Improvements
The update also bring some small but useful changes:
- Army training and hero healing time is removed.
- Army recipes added so players can save favorite setups.
- Certain magic items cost less gems.
- Wall upgrades are easier, and obstacles can be cleared without builder.
These are not huge features, but together they make daily play less frustrating.
Seasonal Content and Community Impact

The season has been extended until October 6, 2025, giving time for players to adapt. The Mash-A-Rama theme comes with new skins, underground scenery, challenges, plus Clan Games and War Leagues.
However, not every player is happy. For long time, low Town Hall trophy pushing was a tradition. Since Ranked requires Town Hall 7 or more, that part of the community is now ending, and some feel it is loss of history.
This September 2025 update does more than just change numbers. It separate casual and ranked play, trophies and shields are adjusted, and quality-of-life fixes make the game faster to play.
