Clash of Clans Optional Update Fixes Major Bugs

fragster Farjana Jamal 14. October 2025

Supercell has released an optional patch for Clash of Clans to address a myriad of bugs that followed the major October 2025 update. The patch is optional. However, it resolves a significant number of gameplay issues that players were frustrated with, and as a result, the game runs more fluidly and overall is a more stable product.

Clash of Clans Optional Update: What’s being Fixed

The update in October 2025 brought the Ranked System and other features, however, it also introduced a few bugs. This new optional patch addresses the following bugs:

  • Misalignment of CWL Bonus Screen: The CWL bonus screen had issues where some buttons were unresponsive, and the text was cut off.
  • Login Crashes: Some players were experiencing crash issues where they would either crash at the start of the game or after they completed the loading screen. Almost all of the issues stemmed from fixing a user-experience issue with the older Revenge-Ore.
  • Equipment Loss in Friendly Challenges: There were reports on SNS regarding Hero Equipment levels being either erased or reset in friendly challenges. Today’s update has triggered a fix-of-sorts for this
  • Ranked Tutorial for New Players: Specifically for those newer players who do not yet have an upgraded Clan Castle, a tutorial was added to demonstrate the important mechanics of the new Ranked Battles.

Aside from that, it also addresses little bugs in the layout, misalignment in UI, and a few little stability issues.

How to Update & Other instructions

Players can download the Clash of Clans optional update from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store. Before updating, make sure to:

  • Check that your Supercell ID is active and your data is backed up.
  • Get the update from the official app store.
  • Test things like CWL Bonus and Friendly Challenges after updating to see if the bugs are fixed.
  • Report any remaining issues to Supercell support or the official forums.

While the patch is described as “optional,” Supercell is advising that players apply it as soon as possible, so they’ll have that better experience. Optional patches allow them to provide fixes for some of the smaller issues quickly without forcing a client update. They have done this on various occasions in the past to remedy UI and layout bugs (also known as paint bugs). This also helps keep the game stable, while not having a drastic amount of downtime.

Responses from the community seem to be generally positive. Players are satisfied with the patches addressing crashes and Hero Equipment fixes, yet as expected, some players feel there could still be lingering issues, particularly regarding the Revenge-Ore glitch and balance in the ranked experience.

For a patch, players took to Reddit to discuss how it was handled so quickly by Supercell. To their success, many players hope they will continue to address smaller bug fixes at this pace in the future.

Realistically, by addressing issues at the first opportunity, Supercell shows it is dedicated to keeping Clash of Clans a stable and enjoyable product. While it may not be a large update, for those who may have been affected by crashes, this is still a very important change to make the game run as smoothly as possible for everyone involved.
