Clash of Clans October 2025 Update: New Battle Modes, Town Hall Upgrades & More

fragster James Steward 4. September 2025

Supercell is releasing one of the largest Clash of Clans updates this October 2025. This update will change how games are played, make the process easier to progress and introduce smart in-game defense systems. The update is going to change both the farming players and competitive sphere of the game.

New Battle Modes: Farming vs. Ranked Battles

Clash of Clans multiplayer is getting split into two different battle systems. The update is expected to go live on October 6, 2025, after the current season ends.

Battle Mode (Farming-Friendly)

  • Made for resource-focused players.
  • Players can pick opponents and skip bases without losing trophies.
  • Matchmaking is only based on Town Hall level.
  • Unlimited attacks for players in Legend League and below.
  • Bases will face more defence pressure, so layouts matter more.

Ranked Battles (Competitive Mode)

  • This mode is for trophy-focused players.
  • Limited daily attacks with no skipping options.
  • Available starting from Town Hall 7 and above.
  • Includes new league tiers, seasonal effects, and larger rewards.

This split makes farming and trophy pushing not interfere with each other anymore. Players choose the style they want.

League System Overhaul

  • The League System is now completely linked to Ranked Battles.
  • The most trophies you ever had is stored as a permanent stat.
  • Trophies can only be lost or gained during Ranked Battles.
  • Farming and ranked still reward Stars and League Bonus.
  • Trophies reset at the end of every season, same as before.
  • New achievements and All-Star badges are active, a lot of them have limited time rewards.

Upgrading Town Halls has often been slow, especially between TH12 and TH15, but the update changes this. Town Halls 12, 13, 14, 15, and 17 now follow a single upgrade path. The old star-upgrade system has been removed, making it consistent with how Town Hall 16 works. Any ongoing upgrades will be cancelled, but Town Hall weapons will automatically max out to the current level. This new system saves both resources and time, giving players a more direct progression.

Spring Traps have been changed to focus on larger troops. Now, traps will always target the largest troop in range based on housing space. If the troop’s size is greater than the trap’s capacity, the troop will take heavy damage and may be destroyed or pushed out. If the size is equal to or smaller than the trap’s capacity, the troop will always be pushed out. Seven new trap levels have been added, with the maximum going up to Level 12 for Town Hall levels 11 to 17. The Builder Base also receives one new Spring Trap level.

Supercell continues to help the game evolve by tackling age-old problems, while creating clarity about how troops perform and their needs. Players who primarily focus on farming and trophy hunting should find the game play style to be more direct upon implementation of this update and ultimately have a better balance.
