Supercell’s patch in October 2025 is one of the largest changes in Clash of Clans history as it is changing many core systems in the game like shields, revenge attacks, traps, Town Hall upgrades, and multiplayer battles. This update is primarily focused on reducing grind, giving the player more control, and updating old systems for a better overall experience.
Magic Shield Replaces Shield and Guard
The first component is a Magic Shield system that has replaced the Shield and Village Guard systems used before. A Magic Shield will automatically be applied to your account for 8 hours if an attacker steals 30% or more of your loot from your village. You can still attack while using the Magic Shield and attacking will not deplete your time on your Magic Shield.

In the event that someone attacks you while you have a shield placed, they engage as though they are entering your “shadow base.” This is merely a copy of your village where the attacker and you do not lose loot or trophies; only the attack will be reflected in your defense log.
Magic Shields are also available for purchase:
- 1 Day Shield: 100 Gems (4 day cooldown)
- 2 Day Shield: 150 Gems (7 day cooldown)
- 1 Week Shield: 250 Gems (35 day cooldown)
Players who return as breaches can be assigned a 48-hour Magic Shield to help settle back into the game. Legend League will still have its own Legend Shield for the sake of competition.
Revenge System Finally Fixed & Unified Town Hall Upgrades

After a long wait, the Revenge button works the way it was intended to work from the very start. Now, you can attack any player who has taken 30% or more of your loot within 12 hours. All revenge attacks are done on shadow bases, which allows you to attack players even if they are online or shielded. Again, revenge battles provide loot and the progress for the League Bonus and Star Bonus, and you can earn back at least what was taken from you.
Supercell has made it easier to progress in the Town Hall level of the game by removing weapon levels for Town Halls 12 to 15, which are like TH16. There is now 1 level of upgrade for each Town Hall with defined weapon stats. If you have a weapon upgrading, the upgrade is now canceled and maxed.
Also, 5 hero levels from the King, Queen, and Warden have been moved from TH15 to TH14 reducing grind. Many upgrade costs and upgrade times of defenses, troops, and pets have also been reduced.
Spring Trap Overhaul & New Battle Modes and League Overhaul

Spring Traps are now only able to target one troop, the largest troop in their radius. If that troop’s housing space is larger than the trap’s capacity, it will receive very high damage instead of being thrown, and if that troop lives, the troop will be stunned shortly after. This will force more strategy around placing and playing styles with traps. The Builder Base receives the update along with one extra level for Spring Trap.
- The multiplayer experience will go from being a 1 system to a 2 system experience; Battle Mode and Ranked Battle.
- Battle Mode for farming allows players to choose and/or skip bases with no effect on trophies.
- Ranked Battle puts caps on available attacks for the day for each player, can not be skipped, and will determine trophy rank.
Although trophies will still only be awarded for Ranked Battles, all modes of Clash of Clans will continue to award Star and League bonus. After Town Hall 7, ranked Battles are set up to function like a mini Legend League, giving players the option to farm or to compete depending on circumstances and player preference.
The October 2025 Clash of Clans update is a huge step for the game. With the new Magic Shield, working Revenge system, simplified Town Hall upgrades, and new Battle Modes, Supercell is changing Clash to improve players’ experience and control. Whether you are (or being) a farmer in Clash or pushing for trophies this update kicks off a new balance and smarter play in Clash of Clans.
