The competition now moves to Shanghai! CTBC Flying Oyster (CFO), Top Esports (TES), and T1 have secured the last spots in the Worlds 2025 Knockout Stage. After winning their Swiss Stage matches, these three teams complete the top eight and move one step closer to the Summoner’s Cup. Their Round 5 opponents, however, have been eliminated from the tournament. Here’s a quick recap of the decisive matches from the Worlds 2025 Swiss Stage Round 5.

CFO Makes Regional History

CTBC Flying Oyster made history by becoming the first team from their region to reach the Worlds playoffs since 2015. Facing FlyQuest (FLY), LTA’s top team, they won 2-0 and proved that the LCP’s best can compete with the strongest teams in the world.

The first game was a 45-minute marathon — the longest match of the tournament so far. Chiu “Doggo” Tzu-Chuan carried hard on Corki, dealing over 56,000 damage. Even though FlyQuest had the early lead, CFO’s smart map control and clutch teamfights turned things around. A decisive Baron fight helped them take control and close out the game.

In the second game, CFO changed their strategy to go full-on aggression and put Doggo on Draven. This move paid off. This time, they won in only 27 minutes, easily overpowering FlyQuest. Even though they were seen as the best Western team, FLY couldn’t match CFO’s speed and confidence.

Top Esports Defeats Bilibili Gaming

In an intense all-LPL matchup, Top Esports eliminated Bilibili Gaming (BLG) after a back-and-forth three-game series. BLG dominated the first game in just 22 minutes, led by strong plays from Knight and Elk. But TES quickly answered back with a nearly flawless win in game two.

It was the third and final game that really felt like an intense do-or-die battle. It was pure chaos, with 47 kills — the highest in the tournament so far. BLG’s Bin was a powerhouse on Jax, but TES’s double-AD lineup with Smolder and Corki scaled better as the match went on. Their smart map control secured the victory and a ticket to the knockout stage, while BLG, last year’s finalist, was eliminated.

T1 Defends Their Title Run

T1 entered Worlds 2025 once again as the LCK’s 4th seed, but this time, the stakes were higher. With a 3–2 record in the Swiss Stage, their tournament life was on the line against Movistar KOI. But when it mattered most, the defending champions stepped up and secured the win. The match also became the most-watched series of the tournament, reaching over 2.56 million viewers.

In Game 1, KOI made a major mistake by letting Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok play Azir—one of his strongest champions. Faker quickly showed why teams usually ban it against him, dominating the match without a single death. Mun “Oner” Hyeon-jun also stood out with his Qiyana, helping T1 take a solid first win.

Game 2 was pure chaos, with 14 kills in just 14 minutes. KOI pushed hard and almost defeated T1 around the 21-minute mark. But T1 stayed calm, used their control of the map wisely, and pulled off a perfectly timed backdoor to win the series. With this victory, T1 move one step closer to the Worlds 2025 trophy and their historic third straight championship.
