According to reports, CS:GO veterans Tsvetelin “CeRq” Dimitrov and Vincent “Brehze” Cayonte could leave Evil Geniuses when their contracts end.

The two CS:GO professionals may become free agents in September as they haven’t extended their contracts with EG, according to a report by Dust2.us. Although their performance at the recent PGL Major was not as impressive as it once was, their departure would be disappointing news for fans.

Brehze and CeRq both delivered quite average performances this year. According to HLTV, the AWPer CeRq had a 1.05 rating and 0.72 kills per round over the previous three months, whereas rifler Brehze had a 0.99 rating, 30.3% headshots, and 0.64 kills per round.

Golden years of EG with the Duo

Both the players came under EG’s banner in 2019, when the organization acquired the NRG roster. The team had a successful first year, taking home victories in ESL One New York 2019 and StarSeries & i-League Season 8. In 2020, the team followed the same route and took first place in both BLAST Premier Spring and ESL One Cologne.

However, EG’s performance plummeted in 2021, halting their successful CS:GO run. While EG’s lack of tournament victories was frustrating for the audience, the real disaster occurred when the squad began struggling to even qualify for the competitions.

Following a difficult year, EG adjusted the lineup at the start of 2022, adding Jacky “Stewie2K” Yip, Timothy “automatic” Ta, and William “RUSH” Wierzba. Even the trio’s inclusion couldn’t help EG end the curse as the team kept taking blows in big events one after another. The team took an early exit from BLAST Premier Spring Groups and ESL Pro League Season 15. They even failed to qualify for the PGL Antwerp Major and IEM Dallas as their run of subpar performances continued.

EG’s project “Blueprint”

As a part of their recently announced “Blueprint” project, the Seattle-based organization has recently combined the former rosters of Carpe Diem and Party Astronauts to create a 15-person CS:GO roster. With three different rosters, it might be possible to witness Evil Geniuses taking part in three separate CS:GO competitions at once.

If CeRq and Brehze don’t succeed in renewing their contracts, EG may consider replacing them with Josh “PwnAlone” Pigue and Jadan “HexT” Postma who play similar roles. If the reports are accurate, fans might witness EG parting ways with some of their longest-tenured players.

However, the organization hasn’t made any official announcement regarding the matter and Brehze and CeRq will continue to play for EG, at least until September. The duo will represent EG at the BLAST Premier Fall Groups, which will start on August 19th.
