Ceb will play for OG at Arlington Major

It seems that OG will benefit from the vast experience of their coach at the upcoming Arlington Major, which is scheduled to take place between August 4-14. Mikhail “Misha” Agatov will not be able to travel for the event and Sebastien “Ceb” Debs will take his place.

For most teams, such a last-minute roster change would be considered a disaster. But in OG’s case, it will most likely boost their performance. Because Ceb is a two-time TI champion and has already demonstrated at the previous DPC Major that he still knows how to play Dota.

Misha’s inability to play

The ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine continues to disrupt the world of esports. Russian players and orgs seem to be at the center of all bad news. Misha, being a Russian player, has encountered travel limitations and will not be able to attend the Major, despite OG’s best efforts to help him get to the United States.

The Arlington Major will be held in the US and at the moment, the US has all sorts of restrictions against Russian citizens. As a result, Misha will need to watch his team from the comfort of his house.

OG’s chances with Ceb

Fortunately for OG, they’re already qualified for The International 2022. The team has had an unusually good season and won the title at ESL One Stockholm, which was the first DPC Major of 2021 – 2022.

Usually, OG play poorly all season and then win The International. But this time, they have found a successful formula with a completely different roster. And when Ceb is required to step in, he proves to be ready for the challenge.

At ESL One Stockholm, OG had him as part of the main roster and everything worked well. However, let’s not forget that PSG.LGD and a few other formidable competitors were not present at the tournament.

At their most recent competition, Riyadh Masters 2022, OG finished third-fourth out of 10 participants. And the team who eliminated them was PSG.LGD.

At the upcoming Arlington Major, OG will play in group A against eight other teams. There’s little doubt that they will finish in the top four, but winning the tournament will not be easy. Ceb’s group opponents will be the following:

  • Fnatic
  • Outsiders
  • LGD
  • Quincy Crew
  • Royal Never Give Up
  • Talon Esports
  • Team Liquid
  • Thunder Awaken

Apart from OG, the strongest teams in the group are PSG.LGD, RNG, and Liquid. In RNG’s case, it remains to be seen if the stand-in, Anathan “ana” Pham, can successfully replace the team’s carry.
