The next Call of Duty Major is set to kick off in just two days, with the Call of Duty League headed to Canada for the Stage 3 Major hosted by the Toronto Ultra.

The CDL’s third Major of the 2022 season has arrived, with the 12 teams battling it out in Toronto. Starting on June 2 and ending on June 5, the teams will compete in a double-elimination bracket.

Minnesota snag top seed

The Minnesota RØKKR enter the Stage 3 Major as the number one seed after a 5-0 performance in qualifying. Minnesota entered the season as one of the teams that could contend for the CDL Championship. However, they have so far failed to live up to those expectations with an eighth-place finish at the Stage 1 Major, and a ninth-place finish at the Stage 2 Major that they hosted. But with a strong performance in qualifying, the RØKKR could be turning things around. They begin their tournament against the eighth-seed Los Angeles Thieves.

Mountain to climb for Guerrillas

The LA Guerrillas face a gruelling tournament if they want to defend their Stage 2 Major title. A torrid qualifying saw them finish with a 1-4 record and the eleventh seed. While they won the last Major via a lower bracket run, the team does not have the same atmosphere as the one that pulled off the feat in Minneapolis. Their tournament will begin against the loser of the OpTic Texas and Florida Mutineers upper bracket matchup.

Home field advantage?

In 2021, the Toronto Ultra were one of the CDL’s hottest teams, eventually finishing as runners-up to the Atlanta FaZe in the CDL Championship. Despite retaining their 2021 roster, they have taken a step back in 2022. They are yet to make the bracket finals at either of the first two Majors and crashed out of the Stage 2 Major in the first round of the lower bracket. But what will they be able to achieve in front of a home crowd in Toronto?

First Major of 2022 for FaZe?

2021 CDL champions Atlanta FaZe may be leading the league standings, but they are yet to take home a major title in 2022. Despite being one of the most consistent teams during the first two Majors, FaZe enter the Stage 3 Major as the fifth seed. Their journey to a third consecutive Major final begins with a matchup against Toronto.

Will the Seattle Surge finally break out?

The Seattle Surge’s much-hyped young roster have struggled to compete with the more established teams. Is this Major the one where the Surge is able to take the next step in their development?

The Stage 3 Major opens on June 2 at 2100 BST/2200 CEST with the Seattle Surge taking on the New York Subliners. The Major runs until June 5.
