CDL Championship 2022 preview and top contenders

Atlanta FaZe will enter the Championship as fan favorites, looking to defend their CDL Championship 2021 crown. Although they haven’t won a single Major this year, they are the most consistent team throughout the year with three consecutive Grand finals appearances at CDL Major Stage one, two, and three. Tyler “aBeZy” Pharris, and Chris “Simp” Lehr, Atlanta’s top players, will be in charge of leading FaZe to their second championship title in a row.

The Los Angele Thieves were one of the league’s poorest teams for the first two years of the CDL. They struggled to gain any sort of momentum and never came close to taking home a Major. However, the organization made the decision to rebuild before the 2022 season. As a brand-new lineup, the Thieves failed to reach the top three of any Major, but they stuck to their guns and defeated Subliners to claim their first ever CDL title at New York Major. With Kenny “Kenny” Williams and his squad continuing to exhibit strong performances, opponents might find it challenging to stop them at the championship event.

Although OpTic Texas haven’t been the most successful team in CDL, their regular season performances were phenomenal, earning them second place in the CDL ranking with 265 points. They kicked off the year winning their first ever Major, beating the overwhelming Atlanta Faze in the finals. However, the team failed to maintain their momentum and took a disappointing exit in the next three Major. Regardless of the recent results, the team have untapped potential and all the capability to take home their first-ever championship title.
