Recently, the Call of Duty League organizers announced that there would be a joint broadcast of Major 2. And that’s not all, as they also announced that Call of Duty legend Seth “Scump” Abner, recently retired from the scene, would be part of these broadcasts.

The news of Scump’s retirement from the competitive CoD scene was a surprise to the entire community and the players. His last game played was last January 13 with OpTic Texas in the qualifiers for the CDL Major 2, and he had a remarkable performance.

Scump says goodbye to esports

As we mentioned, last January 13, Scump played his last game as a professional against Boston Breach, where his team took the victory 3-2. Moreover, his performance was the best on the server, as he finished with a 1.22 K/D score with 94 kills. So there is no doubt it was an epic farewell worthy of the professional scene.

In his farewell video, Scump revealed his new goal: to dedicate himself entirely to streaming and content creation. Scump said:

“Content is something I’ve always wanted to do. I will continue to attend events and meet people, which I couldn’t do as a gamer.”

CDL Watch Party Introduces Scump as Co-Streamer

Well, Scump’s wishes have been granted. For the first time, the gamer will sit back and enjoy Call of Duty from a different perspective. On January 19, the Call of Duty League announced the personalities that will be part of the CDL WatchParty. Among the names are esports legend Scump, as well as Damon “Karma” Barlow, Chris “Parasite” Duarte, and Ian “Enable” Wyatt.

There is no doubt that this will be another reason for Scump’s fans to support him in his new streamer and content creator career. Many fans claimed that “Scump is about to break CDL’s viewership record.” While another added, “I can’t wait to watch the main CDL (Scump’s stream).”

According to the statistics portal StreamCharts, Scump has had an average of 20,451 viewers on his Twitch channel in the last 30 days. We now await how his co-stream with the CDL compares to the official broadcast.

Scump breaks the record for the first broadcast in the CDL

Scump scored a massive success in its first co-streaming for Week 2 of the Major two qualifiers yesterday, garnering over 90,000 viewers. In comparison, CoD’s official Twitch account managed a peak of 63,000 viewers.

The Call of Duty legend, now streamer, had over 73,000 viewers on his stream in OpTic Texas vs. Seattle Surge match on January 20, while the official CoD official channel had close to 55,000. This continued to increase, and peaks reached over 30K viewers.

Undoubtedly, its impact on the community is huge, with many claiming that CoD needs Scump more than the gamer needs CoD.
