The second day of Week 2 of the online qualifiers saw OpTic Texas, Atlanta FaZe, Florida Mutineers, and NY Subliners add important victories that put them at the top of the table.

On the other hand, it is worth mentioning that this week the Bounty Matches of these online qualifiers were played. This means that three matches, in addition to awarding CDL points, gave the teams a prize of $10,000. This week, the privileged were Atlanta FaZe, Florida Mutineers, and NY Subliners, who, in addition to the 10 CDL Points, won a generous prize of $10K.

Atlanta FaZe crush London Royal Ravens

While it is true that Atlanta FaZe have started very strong in these online qualifiers for Major V, there is no doubt that the situation of London Royal Ravens is very worrying. The British team has not yet managed to win a single game; moreover, they have only won two maps in the three matches they have played.

Atlanta FaZe took advantage of their high level and the Ravens’ poor performance to win their Bounty Match this week by 3-1, take the 10 CDL Points, and, of course, the $10K in prizes.

It all started at Mercado Las Amas (Hardpoint), where Atlanta FaZe would give a small taste of what would come for the Ravens in this series. Led by McArthur “Cellium” Jovel, Atlanta managed to take a comfortable 250-145 victory. On the second map, El Asilo (Search&Destroy), FaZe continued their high level of play to take the second win of the series 6-4 and put the Ravens in check.

When all seemed lost for the Ravens, they woke up momentarily at Breenbergh Hotel (Control) and managed to win 3-2. Finally, to ratify their supremacy in the series, Atlanta crushed London Royal Ravens at Embassy (Hardpoint) with an incredible score of 250-74.

Florida Mutineers deal a third blow to reigning CDL champs

The champion’s curse continues in these online qualifiers for Major V, as LA Thieves had failed to show their play level in Major IV when they won the championship trophy. On the other hand, Florida Mutineers scored their second tournament win with an excellent 3-1 score.

The Mutineers started the series very well at Zarqwa Hydroelectric with an excellent 250-242 victory. The team was led by Javier “Vikul” Milagro, who took the team’s baton in the last few games. Then, in Embassy (Search&Destroy), the reigning Major IV champions woke up and, with an inspired Sam “Octane” Larew, pulled off a 6-4 victory to even the series 1-1.

However, this only reawakened the winning blood of the Mutineers’ Spanish player Vikul, as he helped his team take the win on the next two maps to secure the 3-1 victory. Then, at Himmelmatt Expo (Control), Florida managed to win 3-0, and finally, at Al Bagra Fortress (Hardpoint), they crushed the Thieves 250-128.

OpTic Texas get a clean sweep over Seattle Surge

One of the most consistent teams this season, OpTic Texas, got an excellent clean sweep over Seattle Surge to earn their third tournament win and take over the top spot in the standings.

OpTic outplayed the Surge throughout the series and, unlike other games, this time, team play gave them the edge they needed to take the 3-0 victory.

It all started at Zarqwa Hydroelectric, where OpTic Texas was behind on the scoreboard for most of the match. Finally, however, they started to wake up and managed to take the victory by 250-196. Then, at Breenbergh Hotel (Search&Destroy), they had difficulty winning the rounds against the Surge. Finally, an inspired Daniel “Ghosty” Rothe led OpTic to a 6-4 victory.

Finally, at Breenbergh Hotel (Control), OpTic Texas closed the series with an excellent 3-1 score to win their third tournament.

NY Subliners annihilate LA Guerrillas 3-0

Finally, the third game of the day left us with an impressive NY Subliners who managed to annihilate LA Guerrillas with a score of 3-0. There is no doubt that this is the Subliners team that we saw win Major I of the 2023 CDL season, so it looks like we will have another great contender in this Major V. Cesar “Skyz” Bueno was in charge of leading the Subliners by the hand to take the comfortable victory over the Guerrillas.

The series began in Embassy (Hardpoint), where we had a pitched battle between these two teams that ended up favoring the Subliners (250-180) thanks to a great level of play demonstrated by Matthew “KiSMET” Tinsley. We saw a little more resistance from LA Guerrillas on the second map. However, Kismet again led his team to a 6-4 victory.

Finally, in Himmelmatt Expo (Control), we saw how Skyz deployed all their available arsenal and eradicated LA Guerrillas in each battle. As a result, the Subliners took the victory on the third map with a resounding 3-0.
