The second day of Major V is history, and a few hours ago, we witnessed one of the biggest disappointments of this Call of Duty League 2023 season. The team that came as favorites to this Major V after winning the last two qualifiers with a 5-0 record has been eliminated from the main event without winning a single map.

On the other hand, it’s not all bad news for CDL fans, as it seems that the current Major IV champions, LA Thieves, have woken up. We can also note that the Ravens, the worst team of the 2023 CDL season, crushed Boston Breach to eliminate them from Major V.

Finally, NY Subliners and Las Vegas Legion applied clean sweeps in their matches to stay alive in the Call of Duty League Major V Elimination Brackets.

Let’s look at what happened on the second day of matches in the CDL 2023 Major Stage 5 main event.

London Royal Ravens pull off upset by knocking off Boston Breach

Undoubtedly, the first upset of the night was London Royal Ravens’ 3-1 victory over Boston Breach. While it is true that all the players are professionals and any team can win a series, London Royal Ravens is the most inconsistent team all season, so much so that they are along with LA Guerrillas. This team will not be able to surpass 100 points in the season.

Al Bagra Fortress was where the Ravens got the first two wins of the series against the Boston Breach. At Hardpoint, the Ravens came away with a tight 250-233 win, while the Search&Destroy went 6-3. The Breach then tried to wake up in the series with a 3-1 win at Breenbergh Hotel (Control). However, at Embassy (Hardpoint), the Ravens applied the third blow to the Breach by 250-155 to take the series victory.

NY Subliners apply a clean sweep to beat LA Guerrillas

The Subliners showed all their power in this match against LA Guerrillas and came away with a clean 3-0 victory to stay alive in the Major V Elimination Brackets.

It all started at Embassy (Hardpoint) with a close win by the Subliners 250-217. Then, at Breenbergh Hotel (Search&Destroy), the LA Guerrillas boys tried their best to win round after round to even the score. However, they failed to do so and lost 3-6.

Finally, at Himmelmatt Expo, the Subliners closed out the series with a resounding 3-1 victory.

LA Thieves topple OpTic Texas Green Wall and send Ravens home

The reigning Major IV champions, LA Thieves, applied an extraordinary clean sweep against OpTic Texas to collapse the Green Wall and eliminate the Major V favorites, leaving the tournament without winning a single map. In addition, in Round 2, the Thieves scored an excellent 3-0 win over the Ravens to advance to Round 3 of the Elimination Brackets.

OpTic Texas disappointed their fans in this Major V after leaving the tournament without winning a single map. In this series against the Thieves, they didn’t even come close, as they were crushed at Mercado Las Almas (Hardpoint) by 250-109, at Breenbergh Hotel (Search&Destroy) by 6-2 and again at Breenbergh Hotel (Control) by 3-1.

In the second series, which they played a few hours ago, the Thieves got a clean win against the Ravens to stay alive in this Major V. Unlike the series against OpTic Texas, against the Ravens, the Thieves had to fight in the first two maps, as in Al Bagra Fortress (Hardpoint) they won by 250-232 and in El Asilo (Search&Destroy) by 6-5.

However, Breenbergh Hotel (Control) closed their presentation on the last map with a resounding 3-0 victory.

Las Vegas Legion crush Seattle Surge to stay alive in the tournament

In their quest to go as far as possible and score as many points as possible, Las Vegas Legion picked up an excellent 3-0 win over the Seattle Surge to advance to Round 2 of the Elimination Brackets.

It all started at Zarqwa Hydroelectric (Hardpoint), where Las Vegas Legion scored a convincing 250-175 victory. Then, at Mercado Las Almas, we enjoyed an intense and balanced match, but Las Vegas Legion was able to step up to take the victory by 6-5.

Finally, at Breenbergh Hotel (Control), Las Vegas closed the series with a 3-1 victory to stay alive in the tournament and, most importantly, to continue scoring points to continue with their dream of qualifying for the CDL Championship 2023 to be played at home, Las Vegas.
