CDL 2023 Major II Qualifiers result

The CDL 2023 Major II qualifiers have ended; with it, we have witnessed the first major event of the 2023 Call of Duty League season. No doubt there were some surprises and disappointments, but the thrills were there from start to finish.

OpTic Texas and Toronto Ultra showed what they are made of and that they are ready to fight to be crowned champions in the LAN event to be played in Boston in a few days.

Best teams of the CDL 2023 Major II Qualifiers

As we mentioned, the best teams of these Qualifiers were, without a doubt, OpTic Texas and Toronto Ultra. Both teams showed great play during the three weeks of competition, leaving the teams they faced with no chance.

Both OpTic and Toronto finished this tournament with a record of four wins and one loss. The only game that Toronto lost was to OpTic. In contrast, the Texans lost on the penultimate day of the competition to the Las Vegas Legion, this being a historic result for this team, as it is the first time they have beaten OpTic in the CDL.

However, OpTic was a little overwhelmed on the last day of these Qualifiers against Atlanta FaZe, so much so that at one point in the series, they were down 0-2, but they managed a reverse sweep to crush them in the last three games.

Despite the loss to OpTic, Toronto’s side always showed a high level of play and never had problems overcoming their opponents.

Breakthrough teams

The Californian teams of Los Angeles Guerrillas and Los Angeles Thieves had an outstanding tournament. The Thieves had an excellent win against Boston Breach and London Royal Ravens but dropped their performance and lost the other three games played.

The Guerrillas started by losing in the first week to Atlanta FaZe and Florida Mutineers but bounced back with two wins in their last three games, showing a great level.

Disappointing teams

There is no doubt that the teams that disappointed more than one were Seattle Surge and London Royal Ravens. This pair of teams could not show a good level of play during these three weeks of competition and finished with a terrible record of 1-4.

The Surge pulled off one of the surprises of these Qualifiers by beating the New York Subliners in week 3, but their performance was lower than expected overall. At the same time, the Ravens could only manage a win against the Las Vegas Legion in week 2.

Boston, New York, and Atlanta are on the lookout

There is no doubt that the Breach, Subliners, and FaZe are three other major contenders in the upcoming CDL 2023 Major II to be played in Boston.

The Breach will be looking to make their home ground respected and take the win in the first Major of the year. The Subliners want to repeat the title they won last December, while Atlanta FaZe and Minnesota RØKKKR are looking to make a surprise run at the tournament.
