Raven Software has rolled out its first substantial community update for Call of Duty: Warzone as Season 01 draws near, with a lot of improvements and updates. The team has targeted help with three key pillars: Battle Royale, Resurgence, and the future of Warzone. Gamers can look forward to an action packed year with new maps, modes, and ongoing balance updates to improve gameplay and keep everything feeling fresh.
Battle Royale Enhancements
Battle Royale is still the center of Warzone. Raven Software is working to overcome the limitations of technology and build more frequent rotations of large maps starting early next year. This significant update will allow players to be able to play more than one map as part of the Battle Royale mode, which has potential to help the game be more fun and offer longer lasting appeal. At the same time, the Verdansk map will receive consistent theme updates to help keep the game balanced and fun and to keep things fresh for players with frequent updates of new content well before the game, overall, #stayfrosty.
Resurgence Mode Revitalization

Some players stated that Resurgence mode, specifically Rebirth island, started feeling stale to them. Therefore in Season 02, Rebirth Island will receive a full refresh with new points of interest, a new cosmetic pass, and some better flow to the overall map. Season 01 will include a new map called Haven’s Hollow, which most of the test players gave good reviews to. Once Season 01 begins Resurgence will feature a rotating map between Rebirth Island and Haven’s Hollow. Raven is also revamping old maps that some players enjoyed like Fortune’s Keep, in order to keep things fresh.
Frequent Balance Updates and New Modes
Going forward, Raven stated it is planning to release new updates at a more consistent cadence, which would also include 2 or more bigger balance changes per season. They will be tuning weapons, attachments, ground loot, perks, equipment, contracts, and more, specifically for Warzone. They are also introducing new limited time modes, such as wall jumps and using grapple hooks, that will allow the team to try out some of their cool ideas. Lastly, some player favorite features such as Buy Backs, will be returning as weekend playlists along with new faster-loadout modes.
Conclusion

The Warzone update has clear objectives: continue to enhance the core gameplay loop, refresh modes that are core to the experience, and create an ongoing experience of Game Updates that continue to improve the community experience. From introducing multiple maps in Battle Royale to improve Resurgence methods to creating better competitive systems, Raven Software hopes to leave Warzone in a healthy way for the community. More roadmaps will be available soon as Season 01 approaches.
