Five Major tournaments will be included in the CDL 2023, which will start earlier than anticipated, according to internal Call of Duty League documents shared by Dexerto.

Jacob Hale of Dexerto claims to have obtained a leaked internal CDL document that purports to include the complete 2023 season schedule, with dates for the upcoming Major and World Championship. According to the report, the 2023 Call of the Duty League season will kick off much earlier than in previous years with the first Major taking place from December 15 to December 18 and the first week of qualification matches taking place from December 2-4.

The new season starts after Modern Warfare launch

The 2023 season is expected to start soon after the release of Modern Warfare 2 on October 28, giving players and teams over a month to prepare for the first Major event, which is scheduled for December. With the new season starting in December, the CDL appears to be answering fans’ long-awaited request after three seasons of starting the season in January.

The CDL 2023 will proceed to the second Major in February, which will be hosted by a CDL team, continuing a trend from the previous season. CDL fans will have the opportunity to witness the third Major of the season from March 9 to 12, followed by the Major 4 in April. The season’s fifth and final Major will be held between May 25 and May 28, effectively finishing the Major cycle far sooner than in prior years. Moreover, the leaked document notes that Champs will no longer take place at the beginning of August as it has in the past, but will take place in the middle of June instead.

2023 CDL schedule

Based on these leaked documents, here is the complete 2023 CDL schedule:

  • Major 1 Pro-Am: December 15-18 (Organised by CDL)
  • Major 2: February 2-5
  • Major 3: March 9-12
  • Major 4: April 20-23
  • Major 5: May 25-28
  • CDL Champs: June 15-18 (Organised by CDL)

According to the report, the major events will be LAN events hosted by individual teams, the same as the previous CDL season, while qualifiers for all stages will continue to be held online in 2023. The CDL league will only host the Major One and Championship Weekend, with the remaining four Majors being hosted by different CDL organizations. Hale also notes that Major I’s championship weekend coincides with the FIFA World Cup Final, suggesting that the final schedule may be adjusted to minimize a drop in viewership. However, the league hasn’t yet validated the reports, so the times and the schedule itself are tentative.
