The new major Call of Duty: Warzone tournament has been announced! After a huge success last year, the global Warzone esports competition makes its comeback to Europe and North America on August 12, 2022, with the support of Prime Gaming and a hefty prize pool.

The World Series of Warzone is the biggest event series for Call of Duty: Warzone, as it offers major opportunities for regular players to qualify for the championship and clash against famous teams of the discipline. The event will be available for gamers in North America and Europe with a $600,000 prize pool — a notable increase from the $400,000 that was up for grabs in 2021. The series will feature open qualifiers, meaning that every player from Europe and North America who is a part of a trio can try their chances to enter the competition.

World Series of Warzone 2022 format and schedule

The first in-game open playlist qualifier starts on August 12 at 11 am CT, while the WSOW Battle Royale Trios playlist can be watched in-game until August 15. Each qualifier will feature five map series in a custom lobby which is scheduled for August 20-21. European and North American finals are scheduled for September 6-7 with a $300,000 prize pool.

The top 40 qualified teams will enter the main regional qualifiers, with the top 20 squads then advancing to the finals. There, they will get a chance to compete with the 20 invited teams from well-known Call of Duty teams. The line-up of invited teams will be announced soon by the organizer, but we can assume that we will see such titans as OpTic Gaming, FaZe Clan and other well-known clubs.

Apart from the main competition, there will be a #SoloYolo Drop postmatch held after each final, where one player from each team will enter a solo tournament and the winner will earn $100,000 in prize money. Last year, the winner of the competition between 150 participants was Seth “Scump” Abner, an esports player for OpTic Texas and a champion of this year’s first CDL Major.
