Boston Uprising Sign DPS Veteran SoOn

French DPS player Terence “SoOn” Tralier has signed for the Boston Uprising, with the veteran free agent having formally represented the likes of Paris Eternal and the Los Angeles Valiant. With the Uprising having recorded consecutive bottom tier finishes in the Overwatch League, Boston is looking to add experience to its roster.

While the Frenchman was not one of the top free agents available, his performances in the past do suggest that he could be an asset to the team. SoOn began his professional career with teams including Misfits and Rogue, before moving to Los Angeles upon the establishment of the Overwatch League. SoOn quickly became a key figure for the Valiant, helping the team in winning what remains their only tournament success, thanks to a Stage 4 title win over the New York Excelsior.

Why the Uprising Signed SoOn

SoOn then moved to Paris, with the Eternal having been looking for a French-based roster. However, after a disappointing first season, the DPS was demoted to a specialist role, only featuring on certain maps and with specific heroes. Paris did record a fourth-place finish, which included a win against the much-fancied San Francisco Shock. The Uprising then moved quickly to acquire his services.

The Uprising now look set in the DPS position, having already announced the ignings of Jin-ui “im37” Hong and Ji-won “Stand1” Seo. With Seung-hyun “Lori” Kim having also arrived as their new head coach, it could well be a much changed Boston team in 2021. SoOn’s experience of playing with Korean players could well be a boost for the Uprising, while his experience could well be beneficial to the rest of their lineup.

Will SoOn Be a Starter for the Boston Uprising?

It remains to be seen as to whether the 26-year-old will be an immediate starter for Boston, however his arrival can seemingly only be a positive for the team. We will wait to see whether the Uprising can improve upon their performances over the last two seasons.
