Boston Targeting Methodz, TJHaLy & Nero for CoD Team

Having recently become the latest Call of Duty League franchise, Boston are wasting little time in building their roster for the 2022 CDL campaign. According to reports this week, the org is targeting veteran duo “Methodz” and “TJHaLy”, as well as ex-Los Angeles Guerrillas Academy pro, Dylan “Nero” Koch. Should the trio arrive, it would give Boston a good blend of youth and experience.

Current Challengers player “Capsidal” has been named as a possible fourth member of the team, although no official announcements have been made by Boston to date. Should they sign for Boston, both Nero and Capsidal would be in line to make their CDL debuts. Nero operated as a streamer for WaR, before joining the LAG Academy roster in October 2020.

Why Nero & Capsidal Are Being Considered by Boston

Nero made a name for himself when winning an online regional Challengers Cup event back in July, before the team ended the season by recording a top six finish in the North American Finals. Meanwhile, Capsidal featured for a host of teams during the 2021 Challengers, where he found himself competing alongside the like of ACHES, Goonjar and Lacefield, as well as the recently appointed Boston CDL general manager, “Denz”.

Despite Capsidal having failed to record a top four finish in any Challengers Cup in 2021, he did finish second at the Vanguard Challengers event just last week, alongside teammates “GRVTY”, “Havok” and “Scrappy”. The duo would team up with the hugely experienced Methodz, who has spent recent years with the Toronto Ultra. Having been benched in March, Methodz was ultimately released during the offseason.

It was a similar story for TJHaLy in 2021, with the American having acted as a substitute for the Los Angeles Thieves for the remainder of the year, before being released in August. Methodz and TJHaLy were both thought to be on the wish list of Washington Esports Ventures, who withdrew from negotiations over the 12th CDL spot back in November. The org also owns and runs the Overwatch League team, Washington Justice.

How Boston Secured the 12th CDL Spot Ahead of Washington

Kraft Sports and Entertainment took full advantage of the breakdown in duscussions, securing the 12th spot earlier in December. The team will be operated by Oxygen Esports out of New England. “Denz” and “Zed” have already arrived as general manager and head coach, with the duo having been part of the Paris Legion roster in 2020.
