After having a rough season with Florida Mutineers, Reece “Vivid” Drost has joined the Boston Breach, replacing Kenyen “Capsidal” Sutton, the organization has announced yesterday.

For now, Capsidal will remain a part of the roster as a substitute, while Vivid will be representing Boston Breach at the Call of Duty League Major 4 qualifier, according to the announcement.

Vivid’s Florida Mutineers journey

After being a part of the team for more than seven months, Vivid left Florida Mutineers to join Boston Breach for the upcoming CDL Major 4. Even though his tenure with the squad wasn’t extremely successful, his contributions helped the team achieve great results in CDL 2022.

Vivid assisted the squad in mounting a comeback following a humiliating first-round elimination from Major 1. At Major 2, the team put on a standout performance, placing in the top four with a $40,000 prize fund and 30 CDL points. Furthermore, he also assisted Florida to finish in the top six at the Toronto Major, leaving just 20 CDL points that separated Mutineers and Breach.

In terms of firepower, his signing certainly helps Boston ahead of the CDL last round, but at the same time, it leaves the Mutineers with just four players. Mutineers’ current roster includes Joseph “Owakening” Conley, Cesar “Skyz” Bueno, David “Davpadie” Maslowski, and Christian “Yeez” Faircloth (substitute).

Capsidal remains with Boston as a substitute

Capsidal joined Boston this year in January along with Dylan “Nero” Koch, Anthony Methodz” Zinni and Thomas “TJHaLy” Haly. The 19-year-old has contributed significantly to the Breach’s early success in CDL this year.

After a few decent finishes, including a third-place finish in Major 2 Minnesota, the team started crumbling in the mid-season. They struggled in CDL Stage 3 Major, leaving the competition early with a discouraging 3-0 loss to Minnesota RKKR. Despite being the team’s star rookie, Capsidal could not save them from elimination, finishing with 0.75 overall K/D in one of his worst performances thus far. However, he will stay with Boston in a substitute role.

Current Boston Breach roster:

  • Reece “Vivid” Drost
  • Dylan “Nero” Koch
  • Anthony “Methodz” Zinni
  • Thomas “TJHaLy” Haly
  • Kenyen “Capsidal” Sutton (Substitute)
  • Zach “Zed” Denyer (Coach)

Despite the 20-point difference between the two teams in CDL standings, Boston is in sixth place with 130 points, while Florida is tied with Minnesota RKKR for 9th place with 110 CDL points. Above them are the LA Thieves in the eighth position with 120 points and LA Guriellas in seventh with 124 CDL points.

Teams will need to step up their game to move up the standings when CDL Stage 4 Major Qualifiers begin because only the top eight clubs in the league will compete in the CDL Championship.
