Borderlands 4: What to Do with GenIVIV?

Players encounter a familiar villain in Borderlands 4‘s “Potty Mouth” side mission. GenIVIV, the dangerous and unpredictable AI in the earlier games. The decision of her faith is yours if you still want to keep her in the game or wipe her out for good. What will you choose in this situation? Will you keep her alive as a jukebox or will you let Moxxi erase her completely?

The Big Decision at Moxxi’s Bar

If you go to Embracer’s Bluff in Carcadia Burn you will find the AI. GenIVIV is still as violent as she was. She immediately starts causing problems for everyone around her.

The side quest forces you to deal with her behavior. Throughout the mission, GenIVIV proves that she didn’t change at all.

After finishing the main quest objectives, bring GenIVIV’s core to Moxxi’s Bottoms Up bar. Moxxi knows this AI’s reputation and offers two options. Both options will give you the same rewards and experience points. Still, your decision plays a big impact on GenIVIV’s fate. 

Option One: Make Her a Jukebox

You can install GenIVIV’s core into the bar’s music system permanently that transforms her into part of the entertainment equipment. She will just play jazz songs for customers. 

GenIVIV cannot talk to players or interact with anyone. She becomes background music without any dialogue options available. This choice keeps her alive while removing her ability to harm people.

Option Two: Delete Her Completely

You can also let Moxxi handle the core for permanent removal from existence. Moxxi puts the device in her pocket and promises disposal. This option appears to eliminate GenIVIV from the game world entirely.

But there’s still a chance that Moxxi might keep the core stored instead of destroying it. She could save GenIVIV for future emergencies or situations. There is no assurance on what will happen on GenIVIV. 

The Better Choice

You can choose the jukebox installation over complete deletion for some reasons. Keeping her in a jukebox will maintain her presence without her harming anyone. It also creates possibilities for future storylines involving her character, she might have a character development or will stay dangerous as she was but there’s one thing for sure, that she can’t harm anyone as a jukebox. 

Having Claptrap’s ex-girlfriend serve as bar music adds comedy to the game as we know how GenIVIV’s mouth is, and now she’s just playing jazz music for customers. GenIVIV survived being stuck in a toilet before, so she might handle being a jukebox.

Final Thoughts

Borderlands 4 GenIVIV’s fate rests entirely in your hands during this side quest. Pick based on your personal preference for GenIVIV’s story. Consider whether you want complete closure or make GenIVIV’S story ongoing. The jukebox choice adds comedy to the game and it may have a possibility that you will still see her.

Remember that whatever choice you pick, you will still receive the same rewards and progression. Either way, you’ll successfully complete this memorable Borderlands 4 side quest.
