BOOM Esports Signs 23savage as Stand-In for Dota Pro Circuit

BOOM Esports has added Nuengnara “23savage” Teeramahanon to its roster for the remainder of the 2021 Dota Pro Circuit, with the 18-year-old set to fill the void left by Andrew “Drew” Halim. With a 2-3 record to its name from the opening four weeks of the season, BOOM will be looking to finish strong in the Southeast Asian Upper Division regional league.

23savage had been searching for a new team after he was surprisingly released by Vici Gaming just shortly before the launch of the 2021 DPS in China. His release was put down to travel restrictions caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, however 23savage also stated that the language barrier between himself and his teammates was a contributing factor.

Why 23savage Was a Free Agent

As a result, the Thai player never actually featured in a tournament for Vici, having remained without a team since. However, the teenager will now feature for BOOM Esports, becoming the first non-Indonesia to join the organization since its Dota team was launched back in 2017.

Judging by the announcement made by BOOM, it appears that 23savage will be taking over from Drew as carry for the final chapters of the season. While Drew has not officially been let go, the former Reality Rift player is almost certain to part ways with the organization. It remains to be seen whether 23savage will be signed on a long-term basis, with his performances likely to determine this.

What the Remainder of the Season Looks Like for BOOM

BOOM currently sites in 5th position in the standings, however just one more win is required to secure their place in the SEA Upper Division Season Two. Following the arrival of 23savage, the BOOM Esports Dota lineup is made up by Rafli “Mikoto” Rahman, Saieful “Fbz” Ilham, Brizio “Hyde” Putra and Alfi “Khezcute” Nelphyana. BOOM take on Execration and Vice Esports in their final two encounters of the campaign.

A place at the Singapore Major is still not out of the question, with the SEA third seed position still being up for grabs should TNC Predator and T1 miss out.
