The Overwatch 2 team is set to unveil new information about the game at a special meetup with content creators scheduled for next week. Blizzard has revealed that players can expect more information about Overwatch 2 in September.
Overwatch 2 is finally coming out later this year on October 4, but so far, players have had only two opportunities to try out the game in beta. Much to their disappointment, they won’t get the third one.
Blizzard’s summit for content creators
Much of what Overwatch 2 will offer will be in the form of the revamped ranked experience and Battle Pass, on which Blizzard will announce more information at a later date. However, now that the game’s release date is getting closer, the developer is set to host a special summit for content creators in order to prepare them for a wave of new information.
In a recent post on Twitter, Overwatch Community Manager Andy Belford explained that throughout next week, fans of Overwatch 2 content creators may notice their favorite streamers being absent. “We invited some people to an offsite summit with NDA,” he revealed, adding that they are allowed to start talking about it next month. Of course, September is just around the corner, so it’s anyone’s guess as to when Twitch streamers and YouTubers will actually be able to talk about what’s on the show.
Next week you'll see some of your fav creators are conspicuously absent. Never fear, we've invited several folks to an offsite NDA'd creator summit (they'll be able to start talking about it next month).
We're excited to (safely) meet folks😷2😷for the first time since 2019

New support and PvE story campaign
While Belford hasn’t commented or given any hints, many have speculated that the new Support Fox hero and Season 1 content are on the way. Although we’re just a few weeks away from Overwatch 2’s long-awaited release, some of the game’s core features, such as the PvE story campaign, are expected to be added sometime in 2023.
Some players were rather negative about the announced creator meeting in Andy Belford’s Twitter thread, asking why it is important for content creators to find out certain information about the game before the vast majority of players.
In addition, there has been a rising sentiment in the community that we don’t need a sequel to Overwatch and that the long-anticipated title is an unnecessary release driven by Blizzard’s financial greed.
Be that as it may, we will probably have to be patient and wait until September to find out what Blizzard developers have in their sleeves. In general, don’t get your hopes up for new story content, but with so many new maps, modes, heroes, and cosmetics, there should be enough for players to delve into.
