When highly skilled people like Daryl “iceiceice” Xiang, Djardel “DJ” Mampusti, and Rasmus “MISERY” Filipsen joined Bleed Esports this year, everyone knew this team had the potential to become of the best in Southeast Asia. But nobody suspected that they would be the leaders in this region.

Bleed Esports went from finishing sixth in Tour 1 and Tour 2 to having a record of 5 W – 1 L in Tour 3 and looking quite strong ahead of the Bali Major. Unfortunately for them, their result seems to be too little, too late. But if they can get a top six at the Major, maybe they’ll have a chance to get a direct invite to The International 12.

However, if they remain at the top and continue to improve their game, even if they fail to qualify for TI12 directly, they will almost certainly qualify for the event by winning the regional qualifier. With Talon Esports out of the way, because they’ll finish in the top 12, Bleed Esports will only need to defeat Blacklist International and Execration.

It won’t be easy and we already saw them losing against these teams this year, but their roster has the potential to become much stronger until the start of that qualification tournament.

Why Bleed Esports are strong at the moment

For Bleed Esports, the biggest strength is experience. This is a team full of players who competed at multiple editions of The International. The coach, MISERY, played in the Grand Final in 2016. Iceiceice, who’s almost 33 years old, finished the tournament three times in the top six.

DJ and Kim “DuBu” Doo-young also know what it’s like to be part of a team that finishes in the top six at this great event. On top of that, DuBu is also South Korean, so his understanding of esports is on a completely different level.

Bleed Esports have the potential to be SEA’s strongest Dota 2 team not only this season but in the next one as well. Right now, SEA is one of the weakest regions in Dota, so a team with strong enough players will easily dominate the region and qualify for every Major.

The incentive is good enough to motivate Bleed’s players to stick together and maybe achieve something epic together, either in 2023 or 2024.
