BLAST R6 Major Copenhagen revealed

Just a month after the reveal of the BLAST Rainbow Six Siege global esports circuit, the tournament organizer along with Ubisoft announced the first-ever BLAST R6 Major, set to take place in the capital of Denmark. 

The BLAST R6 Major Copenhagen is scheduled to run between April 24 and May 7 and will boast a $750,000 prize pool. Besides the title and a share of the prize pool, the teams have a chance to earn points toward the Six Invitational 2024 in Brazil.  

Moreover, the second BLAST R6 Major is set for November 2023 and will take place in the United States. 

Format & schedule

This marks the first big-scale competition since the creation of the BLAST R6 ecosystem. The event will see 24 of the world’s best Rainbow Six teams go against each other at the Forum Copenhagen, so be ready for two weeks of top-tier R6 action. 

The teams from 9 competitive regions have already begun their journey with Stage 1 of Season 2023, but only the top 24 of them will earn their spot in the Major. 

The BLAST R6 Major Copenhagen will feature a new format split into three phases, with only the playoff phase being open to fans. 

Here’s the schedule:

• Phase 1: April 24 – 27 (no audience)
• Phase 2: April 29 – May 3 (no audience)
• Phase 3: May 5 – 7 (with live audience at Forum Copenhagen)

Phase 1 

Phase 1 will feature 16 teams divided into four groups with squads from various regions in order to ensure exciting international matchups. The groups will be played in a classic GSL format with a combination of best-of-one and best-of-three (elimination) matches. The best two teams from each group will seal a spot in the following Phase 2. 

Phase 2 

The second phase of the BLAST R6 Major Copenhagen will introduce a new Swiss format, where a total of 16 teams (eight surviving teams from Phase 1 plus eight teams that qualified via their respective regional leagues) will play in best-of-one and best-of-three matches. 

Phase 3 

The third and final phase of the tournament will take place with a live audience who will see the top eight teams from Phase 2 go head-to-head in a best-of-three single elimination bracket for a chance to claim the first BLAST R6  Major trophy. 

BLAST R6 Copenhagen Major Bandit bundle

For the occasion of the first-ever BLAST R6 Major, the organizers prepared a special R6 Bandit bundle for R6 players, which will be available in the in-game store. As usual with such bundles in other esports titles, BLAST is giving fans the opportunity to contribute to the Major’s prize pool by purchasing the bundle. According to BLAST’s official announcement,  a total of 20% of the revenue from the bundle set will be added directly to the prize pool. 

Moreover, R6 Share Tier 1 Team bundles have also been added to the in-game shop, with 50% of the proceeds going directly to the teams.

Tickets 

Tickets for BLAST R6 Major Copenhagen are already available for purchase, ranging from €25 for a single-day pass in the Category two seating section, to €140 for a three-day pass in the Gold section. The Gold tickets also come with special merch and a VIP experience.
