Team Liquid and paiN Gaming have emerged victorious in their respective opening matchup at the BLAST Premier Spring Showdown NA. The European showdown, on the other hand, saw 9INE and BIG securing a semi-final spot.

The BLAST Premier Spring Showdowns for Europe and the Americas kicked off on Wednesday, featuring 16 CS: GO teams. Only ten teams remain after the brutal single-elimination first round, and they will continue their hunt for one of the two spots in the BLAST Premier Spring Final, which is scheduled to hold on June 6-11 in Washington, D.C., United States. The grand finals, which will decide which two teams proceed to the $450,000 Spring Final, will take place on Sunday.

BLAST Premier Spring Showdown EU Day 2 results

As the BLAST Premier Spring Showdown Europe quarter-finals stage comes to a close, 9INE and BIG have eliminated Fnatic and Rare Atom from contention for a spot in the finals.

The Polish side closed out Vertigo with a 16-6 victory before a lackluster CT side cost them on Overpass and forced a decider, where 9INE closed out the series with a dominant 16-4 victory. The Polish squad has defeated the 11th-ranked team in the world, Fnatic, and now seeks to extend their run in the Showdown as they are set to face BIG in the semifinals.

Meanwhile, BIG advanced to the semifinal after crushing the Asian team Rare Atom. The German team struggled on Ancient before rebounding and eliminating the Asian team with a valiant victory on Vertigo and a more assured performance on Overpass. BIG will meet 9INE in the second semifinal, which is scheduled to take place on April 1. In the first semifinal, fan-favorite Cloud9 will face Ninjas in Pyjamas. The winner advances to the grand final, where one spot at the BLAST Premier Spring Finals will be up for grabs.

BLAST Premier Spring Showdown NA Day 2 results

Two teams have already been eliminated after the first day of the BLAST Premier Spring Showdown North America. Team Liquid defeated Nouns Esports in the second match of the North American Showdown to secure a spot in the semifinal. Jonathan “EliGE” Jablonowski and men dominated their North American rivals on Inferno to start the series before closing it with a 16-8 win on Nuke.

In the first match, paiN Gaming overcame the Brazillian force MIBR 2-1 to kick off their campaign. The North American team won their pick of Anubis 16-9 before MIBR mounted a brilliant comeback on Nuke on the back of Raphael “exit” Lacerda’s outstanding performance to force a decider. The North American squad fell behind 8-7 on Vertigo but rallied for an incredible 16-10 victory to advance to the semifinal match against Team Liquid.
