BLAST Premier Spring Groups is the first important CS:GO tournament of 2023 and it will feature 12 amazing teams. The location of the LAN event will be Copenhagen, which should make Astralis, Heroic, Ninjas in Pyjamas, and FaZe Clan a bit more comfortable.

As usual, the competition will be divided into three separate groups and each of those groups will include four teams, three of which will go to the Play-In stage. The group winners advance directly to the Spring Final.

This means that a lot of emphasis is placed on winning the group. The bottom three teams get a second chance to qualify for the Spring Final but only three of them will succeed. The other six teams will get one last chance in the Spring Showdown.

Group A predictions

Group A of BLAST Premier Spring Groups features some very strong teams:

  • Heroic
  • Team Vitality
  • Astralis
  • Evil Geniuses

Based on everything we know about these participants, Heroic and Team Vitality will most likely prove to be the strongest teams. But Astralis, provided that Nicolai “dev1ce” Reedtz manages to play the way he used to, is also a likely candidate to win this group.

Heroic are hard to ignore because they’re still the number one team in CS:GO, at least based on the rankings. Their failure from BLAST Premier : World Final shouldn’t be regarded as a relevant result that suggests they aren’t as strong as they seem. That result has nothing to do with the real Heroic.

When you compete with a stand-in, it’s going to be hard to play your usual game. Heroic paid the price of trying to win against the world’s best teams with an improvised roster. But now that they’re back to their standard formula, it shouldn’t be hard for them to win against Evil Geniuses, Astralis, and even Team Vitality.

One thing is certain in this group: everyone has a decent chance except for Evil Geniuses. They simply cannot win at this competitive level, unless something goes terribly wrong.

In Vitality’s case, the team started the new season without making any roster changes. One of the players on the team’s roster is Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut, who regularly finished in the top two in the last four years.

Apart from Aleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev, nobody in CS:GO is better than him. This gives Vitality a big advantage against most teams, but here it’s going to be really hard to win the group.
