Heroic trounced G2 Esports 2-1 to advance to the semifinals of the Blast Premier Fall Finals.

The Blast Premier Fall Finals, which began with eight of the finest CS:GO teams in the world, has advanced to the semifinal stage. The battle for survival has been fierce over the last four days, with only four teams remaining while the remaining four have already packed their bags and made their way home. FaZe Clan and Team Liquid advanced to the semifinals with outstanding performances on the group stage, while Heroic went head-to-head against G2 Esports in the quarterfinal match to secure a spot in the semifinal.

Heroic upset G2 to secure semifinals berth

The all-Danish team got off to a strong start in the Fall Finals, defeating Ninja in Pyjamas in the first match with an amazing reverse sweep. Their victory was short-lived, though, as FaZe Clan destroyed them 2-0 in the next round, denying them a spot in the semi-finals. As a result, the team began their playoff run in the quarterfinals, where they faced the formidable European team G2 Esports.

The Danish team dominated the best-of-three series early on, securing an easy victory on Mirage 16-8. Nemanja “huNter-” Kovač and Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov put on a heroic performance for G2 as the team prevailed 16-6 on Nuke to tie the series at 1-1. The Danish team quickly put an end to G2’s campaign with a remarkable individual performance from Rasmus “sjuush” Beck as the series moved to the crucial map Vertigo. After the game, Heroic’s star rifler Jakob “Jabbi” Nygaard spoke with Fragster and shared his thoughts on the victory.

Did you anticipate that the match will end on Nuke after winning the first map?

Jabbi: The T side was okay, but the CT side was hard as we couldn’t get the ball rolling. We needed to win the pistol round or the eco round, but we made poor decisions.

How did you come back after G2 took a big lead on the last map?

Jabbi: We got momentum after winning the ECO round. There is always a big boost in confidence in CS:GO after winning ECO rounds, you get more money and you can buy better weapons and equipment in the next round.

The Casper “cadiaN” Møller-led squad will play Team Liquid in the first semifinal on Saturday. Their last encounter was at the IEM Rio Major’s Legends Stage in November, in which the Danish team defeated Liquid 2-1. While riding the wave of momentum, the Danish team will try to overcome the North American team again in front of their home audience.
