Rainbow Six Siege is one of the most played FPS esports in the world. In 2022, its professional scene featured three Majors and a world championship called Six Invitational. The Majors offered $500.000 in prize money while the world championship offered $3 million.

This shows that R6 Siege has great potential and might become a much bigger esport one day. And very recently, BLAST gave the R6 Siege community the good news: the company will enter this esport and create a circuit, just as it did in CS:GO.

Who is BLAST?

BLAST is a tournament organizer that has become a big player in CS:GO’s professional scene. The company created its own circuit, called BLAST Premier, which features around half a dozen tournaments each year. This circuit culminates in BLAST Premier: World Final, a $1 million LAN event that brings together eight of the world’s best teams.

In 2022, this epic tournament is scheduled to take place between December 14-18.

Apart from creating BLAST Premier, BLAST is also involved in organizing Valve events. Earlier this year, the company received Valve’s approval to organize the next CS:GO Major, which will take place in Paris in May 2023. The competition offers $1.25 million in prize money and features 24 of the world’s best teams.

BLAST’s decision to enter the R6 Siege esports scene

Despite being a great game, R6 Siege doesn’t have such a big esports scene. There are only around half a dozen important tournaments each year and the audience is not that impressive. In 2022, Six Invitational had just 121.000 average viewers. At its peak, the tournament was being watched by 272.000 people.

This means that the esports audience of R6 Siege is 5-10 times smaller than that of CS:GO. And BLAST believes that it can change that.

The partnership between Ubisoft and BLAST is a long-term one. Based on the recent announcement, the two companies have agreed on a multi-year deal. As part of the deal, BLAST will help Ubisoft to create leagues and international events that involve nine regions. The project is called The Rainbow Six Esports Global Circuit.

These are the regions it will involve:

  • North America
  • Europe
  • Brazil
  • South Korea
  • Japan
  • Hispanic Latin America
  • Asia
  • Oceania
  • MENA

The circuit starts in March and ends in February. BLAST’s role will be to ensure the quality of the leagues and tournaments in order to attract bigger audiences from around the globe. The structure of the R6 Majors will be changed and lots of smaller changes are coming as part of BLAST’s strategy.
