Counter-Strike: Global Offensive kicked off the 2023 season with the BLAST Premier Spring Groups a few weeks ago. In this tournament, the 12 best teams in the world participated and were fighting for a share of the prize pool and, most importantly, six spots for the Spring Finals.

The BLAST Premier Spring Finals is the annual mid-season tournament on the BLAST Premier CS:GO calendar. As usual, this tournament will feature eight teams at the top competitive level, all of whom will earn their spots throughout the spring season.

The eight qualifying teams will battle it out in a LAN environment for a share of the juicy $425k prize pool and a berth to the BLAST Premier World Finals.

BLAST Premier Spring Finals – Washington DC

The BLAST Premier Spring Finals 2023 will be held in Washington, D.C., the capital of the United States of America. The revelation of the host city of the $425,000 competition is announced through the social networks of the Danish organizer of the tournament.

This highly anticipated event marks the return of BLAST to North America and will be played July 7-11, 2023, at the 4,000-seat Entertainment & Sports Arena. This marks the return of top-level competitive CS:GO tournaments to NA from 2019.

Teams from the Group Stage

The BLAST Premier Spring Groups began last January 19 with three groups of four teams in a double-elimination format. The winners of each group qualified directly for the Spring Finals. While the remaining nine teams were sent to the Knockout Stage to fight for the remaining three spots.

After a week of intense but, above all, exciting matches, three wonderful teams managed to qualify by winning their respective groups:

  • Team Vitality (Group A)
  • FaZe Clan (Group B)
  • G2 Esports (Group C)

In the next few days, we will know the three teams that will get the last three slots. Finally, the remaining places (2) will go to the regional qualifiers in April.

Official statements from both parties

Charlotte Kenny, General Manager of BLAST Premier, said:

“North America has some of Counter-Strike’s most passionate fans and talented players. We are delighted to be returning to the U.S. in June to host our first BLAST Premier arena event of 2023. BLAST is focused on uniting fans through their shared love of esports and providing them with first-class entertainment experiences. Washington, D.C. provides the perfect location to deliver on this ambition, where we are excited to be partnering with Monumental Sports & Entertainment and Events DC to bring the Spring Final to a city with such a rich history of hosting leading sporting events.”

On the other hand, Angie M. Gates, President and CEO of Events DC, highlighted:

“The BLAST Premier Spring Final is a dynamic event to host at the Entertainment & Sports Arena. We welcome Counter-Strike fans to Washington, D.C., a growing hub for the global esports community. This partnership with Monumental Sports & Entertainment and BLAST Premier gives Events DC the opportunity to showcase more experiences that engage, excite and entertain visitors from around the world.”

There is no doubt that this new event on North American soil will feature superb organization. The event will have the best teams in the world battling it out to be the best. On the other hand, this serves as an incentive for the North American region. Recently, we have observed how the level of play in this region has declined.
