BIG thrashed Eternal Fire 2-1 to move to the semifinals of the ongoing Roobet Cup. Despite an impressive performance from İsmailcan “XANTARES” Dörtkardeş and Buğra “Calyx” Arkin, Eternal Fire is officially eliminated from the tournament.

Following a rough CS:GO season, BIG is out to rebound with a dominant showing at the Roobet Cup. After demolishing Entropiq in the opening match, the team defeated FaZe Clan to enter the playoffs with a 2-0 record. On the other hand, Eternal Fire had a difficult start to the competition, losing their first game to ENCE. nevertheless, they advanced to the semifinals with a 2-1 record after scoring amazing victories over Mouz and Imperial.

BIG vs. Eternal Fire

BIG picked Overpass to open the quarterfinal match, but they lost the opening rounds, giving Eternal the early lead. However, they staged a surprising comeback after the tenth round, winning four straight rounds to lead 8:7 going into the second half.

The dynamic combo of Johannes “tabseN” Wodartz and Tizian “tiziaN” Feldbusch firmly resisted the opponent’s every comeback effort on the front lines. They contributed 46 kills in total, with individual KDAs of 25/15/5 and 21/19/6, respectively, to help BIG defeat Eternal in the series opener by a 16:10 scoreline.

BIG maintained their momentum in the second map, winning eight straight rounds. They won four more rounds before they entered the second half with a score of 12:3. The IGL of Eternal Mer “immoR” Karataş stood up for the squad and his 29 frags significantly contributed to the team’s incredible comeback.

After falling behind 12:3, the team managed to tie the score at 15:15, taking the match into overtime. Eternal’s Calyx and zgür “woxic” Eker dealt the final blows, winning four rounds in overtime to secure a 19:16 victory.

The series went to the last and decisive map Nuke, with both the teams needing one win to reach the semifinals. After failing to defend the lead in the earlier game, BIG changed their play style to the offensive. They demolished Eternal in seven consecutive rounds to gain a significant lead.

 

The squad won three more rounds before the game entered the second half with a score of 10:5. After a few rounds of back-and-forth combat, BIG’s Florian “syrsoN” Rische took control and hammered the final nail in the coffin. His stellar K/D/A of 24/13/2 enabled the squad to end the map and the series with a fantastic victory.

With this victory, BIG moved on to the Roobet Cup semifinal, where they will take on  Cloud9 on June 29.
