Round 1 of the playoffs stage of BetBoom Playlist. Freedom ended with some very interesting results. Arguably, all of the teams that played in this round are underdogs, but some of them may turn into dark horses. In particular, 1win looked impressive.

This is the new team of Kirill “Boombl4” Mikhaylov, the former IGL of Natus Vincere. In the RMRs for the Paris Major, 1win failed to qualify. But it’s quite obvious that they are slowly making progress and will soon be able to challenge the world’s tier-1 teams.

Round 1 results

In the first match of the round, Aurora Gaming taught MOUZ NXT a lesson. On both maps, the score was 10-5 in favor of Aurora after the first half and there was very little that MOUZ NXT could do after that. There were three players on Aurora who had a rating 2.0 of around 1.30. Meanwhile, MOUZ NXT’s best player had a score of 1.00.

In the second match, Astralis Talent came very close to losing against the former roster of Copenhagen Flames. They lost the first map (10-16) and then needed overtime rounds to win the second one (22-19). On the third map, they were very dominant (16-3).

Let’s not forget that Astralis Talent have players like Andreas “Xyp9x” Hojsleth, who won several CS:GO Majors with the main Astralis team. All things considered, Astralis Talent should be winning tournament after tournament with their current roster. But that’s not exactly the case.

In the third match, 1win defeated an unknown team that was looking for an organization and playing under the name Looking4Org. This team is full of well-known French players like Lucas “Lucky” Chastang.

The scores here were a bit closer than we expected. On Nuke, 1win won without too many problems (9-16) but on Vertigo, they nearly messed up after a great first half: 5-10 into 14-16. Results like this one are guaranteed to ruin both teams’ morale.

The fourth match of the first round was played between 9Pandas and Spirit Academy. 9Pandas have one of the strongest Dota 2 teams in the world, so they are well-known in Eastern Europe. But not for CS:GO. However, in this match, Denis “seized” Kostin and his teammates did relatively well.

Despite losing the first map, 9Pandas ended up winning the match with two 16-10 scores on Overpass and Anubis. By far, the best player on the server was Aleksandr “glowiing” Matsievich.
