Dota 2 patch 7.37 brought many important changes and as a result, some heroes have become much stronger than before.
In this guide, you will discover three carry heroes that are strong in the current meta and can be used to easily increase your MMR.
Abaddon
Abaddon was strong even before the release of Dota 2 patch 7.37. But now he’s a monster again, having a win rate of 55.2%.
When Abaddon attacks an enemy, he applies a powerful debuff for 5s if they have less than 40% HP. The target loses 35% of its HP regen, healing, lifesteal, and spell lifesteal.
Because many heroes rely on recharging their HP using some sort of lifesteal when they’re on low HP, Abaddon perfectly counters a lot of different strategies.
When playing this hero, consider buying items like Heaven’s Halberd, Harpoon, and Aghanim’s Scepter.
A lot of players like playing Abaddon in the offlane role, buying Solar Crest and other utility items. You can certainly do this but the current meta makes this hero an excellent choice for the carry position.
Wraith King
Wraith King is another hero whose win rate is above 55%. Whether he is played offlane or as carry, this hero is hard to counter in the lower MMR brackets. At the highest level, his win rate is below 50% because teams know his timings and counter him quite effectively. But lower MMR players tend to let him farm freely until it’s too late.
Some of the items that work well when playing WK are Radiance, Blink Dagger, Assault Cuirass, Armlet of Mordiggian, and Desolator. The important thing is to boost your mobility, damage, and survivability. Always start with your damage because it will allow you to farm faster.
Wraith King’s biggest strength is that he farms quickly and is difficult to kill in team fights. He often dies once but not twice. If your opponents have lots of crowd-control abilities, you might need a Black King Bar to be effective. Greedy builds that focus only on damage and mobility are risky because you could easily get killed before attacking once.
Medusa
Medusa is one of the tankiest heroes in Dota 2 thanks to Mana Shield. She’s also one of the fastest farmers thanks to Multishot. In Dota 2 patch 7.37, Mana Shield was reworked.
It no longer needs to be leveled up and absorbs 2.4 points of damage per mana point plus 0.1 damage per hero level. This means that when Medusa is level 20, the amount is 4.4 damage per mana point. That’s the equivalent of having roughly 70 armor and 80% magic resistance, which is absolutely insane.
The goal when playing Medusa is to get to the 20-minute mark. The later the game goes, the harder you are to kill because you simultaneously become a powerful tank and an unstoppable damage dealer. With enough mana and an Aegis of Immortality, you could easily buy a Daedalus or even a Rapier and nobody would want to fight you.
