The Rangefinder is a tool that zeroes your weapon to the distance of your current target. Simple as that. When you spawn in with your sniper rifle, it is zeroed in at 100m – this means that at 100m, your bullet will go exactly where the crosshair tells you it will go. As you fire further and further, however, gravity comes into effect, and your bullet will drop, meaning that your crosshair becomes less reliable.

Why the Rangefinder Is Important

It eliminates the necessity to continually adjust manually for bullet drop, which can be time-saving when reswitching targets at various ranges. This maintains greater consistency in long-range combat, sniper versus sniper, or in eliminating enemies across larger maps.

You can use the rangefinder to adjust the zero distance on your sniper rifle by holding the B key or down on the D-pad while aiming. This way, you can hit shots at extreme range with ease, as you don’t have to aim above your target to calibrate for bullet drop. If you are changing distances a lot in a fight, ensure that you are manually resetting the zero distance on your rifle, or you use the rangefinder each time.
