Battlefield 6 has yet to go live, but that hasn’t stopped more than 9,000 users from accessing its Open Beta on Steam. While the game remains unplayable at this stage, EA allowed players to pre-load the beta and explore the in-game menu, adjust settings, and prepare ahead of the actual early access launch. According to SteamDB, the beta reached a peak of 9,463 users — a notable figure given that gameplay hadn’t yet begun.
Battlefield 6 Open Beta Crosses 9,000 on Steam
The pre-load became available early on August 4 at 8 AM PT, and since then, fans have started downloading and loading up the beta to prepare. While the actual gameplay won’t unlock until August 7 for early access players, many are already exploring the main menu, changing settings, and getting everything set before they can jump into action. At one point, there were nearly 3,800 players online just inside the menu screen, not playing, but waiting.

What’s surprising is how this unfinished version is already pulling in numbers close to Battlefield 2042, which is a fully released game but has seen drops in player count. It seems Battlefield 6 might be off to a better start if things keep going like this.
EA seems to have changed things a bit this time, as early access wasn’t locked behind pre-orders. Instead, anyone who signed up through Battlefield Labs got early access too, and for everyone else, the Open Beta is going live for free on August 9. This move has been received nicely, compared to previous betas, which were more limited.
After EA revealed Battlefield 6 multiplayer on July 31, interest clearly shot up fast. The gameplay preview had big-scale fights, new mechanics, and visual upgrades that fans got excited about. All that likely helped push people to download and get read,y even if the game couldn’t be played yet.
Even though it’s just the menu for now, the attention Battlefield 6 is pulling already says a lot. If the beta delivers on all this hype, the new game might really bring the franchise back to where fans want it to be.
