Battlefield 6 Open Beta: Full List of Console Commands, Cheats, and Essential Beginner Tips

fragster James Steward 12. August 2025

Battlefield 6 is finally set to launch on October 10, and its open beta is here. While multiplayer-oriented, players have much to learn and tinker with, so we’ve collected all the BF6 in-game console commands, cheats, and beginner tips we recommend here.

The full Battlefield 6 experience will include a traditional single-player campaign (the first since Hardline’s) on top of the online modes most players will be jumping in for. As a result, the more curious soldiers will want to tinker with the game and the latest iteration of the Frostbite Engine; that’s where the best BF6 in-game commands and cheats come in.

Console Commands in Single Player

How to Enable

You can unlock the in-game command console by going into the Settings menu, opening the System tab, and choosing “enable Command Console” under the Setup section at the top. Note that you must exit these menus for the changes to be saved.

Once that’s done, you can hit the tilde key (~) to bring it up and close it. Depending on your keyboard and system-level configuration, this key might be a different one.

Commands at Hand

Here’s the list of BF6 console commands we’ve collected so far. We’ll be updating it with more as the full game releases:

  • PerfOverlay.DrawFps 1 – Simple version of the FPS counter (simpler than the one found via in-game menus). 0 instead of 1 disables it.
  • GstRender.DisplayMappingHdr10PeakLuma (x).000000 – Allows the user to adjust peak HDR brightness (not available in-game at the time of writing). (x) should reflect the user’s brightness in nits. The default appears to be 1000. This works if HDR is enabled via Windows, but the implementation in BF6 is not fully done, so its behavior can be erratic.

Multiplayer Tips for New Players

Movement and Mobility

Tactical sprint is eliminated, but crouch-sprint remains, which enables the player to sprint in a crouched stance. This is useful for movement in stealth or evading enemy fire when changing to cover.

Usage of Destruction

Maps now have more destruction. Blowing up things using explosives or heavy weapons can shatter cover or reveal a new route of attack.

C4 Usage

C4 can now be tossed much farther than previously, and it is even safer to use in order to set traps or destroy vehicles from behind cover.

Identifying Enemies

Mark enemies with the Q key on PC or L1/Left Bumper on console so that the team knows where they are. Double-tap to indicate them as hostile. Also works when lying down or on the ground.

Class Abilities

Each character has passive and active skills in-game. Recon could receive a passive that disables revives on headshot, while active skills such as UAV marker refresh very quickly to be used regularly.

Cheating Concerns in the Open Beta

Cheater Activity

The open beta is already experiencing an enormous level of cheating. People report wallhacks, aimbots, triggerbots, radar hacks, and more. Cross-play causes it to strike PC and console players.

Numerous players post in forums about unwarranted kills and ruined games. Some describe superior equipment, such as DMA devices that connect to the motherboard and can bypass anti-cheat monitoring.

Anti-Cheat Response

EA’s Javelin anti-cheat system blocked over 330,000 cheating attempts in the first two days alone. Approximately 44,000 were reported on the first day, and another 60,000+ afterward.

Javelin also collaborates with integrity and positive play teams to enhance detection. It also employs Secure Boot and TPM requirements for system protection.

Don’t forget about your passive and active class abilities

Though the options are limited, the open beta classes in BF6 come with field specs, which include active and passive skills. What this means is that your class will level up as you gain XP and the match goes on, gaining new passives and one active ability.

For example, Recon players with the currently available spec can down enemies for good (no revives) with headshots once they earn the required passive. These range from boosts to cooldowns to more noticeable abilities, so keep an eye on what your current class is capable of doing via this system. Finally, you can press the indicated key/button to activate skills such as calling in a UAV (Call of Duty style), which will mark enemies on the map. At least in the open beta, these skills refresh rather quickly, so don’t ignore them!
