Battlefield 6 Jet Guide: How to Fly, Dogfight, and Dominate the Skies

fragster Farjana Jamal 15. October 2025

Flying jets in Battlefield 6 requires precision, awareness of surroundings, and practice. Unlike ground vehicles or infantry players, jets are controlled by pitch, yaw, and roll. These controls enable players to climb, dive, and roll. In the heat of combat, players need to be able to track enemy aircraft and perform ground attacks. Learning how to incorporate roll and pitch to line your nose up with your target will greatly increase your accuracy in combat.

Jets in Battlefield 6 have their own unique control characteristics compared to other vehicles. Pitch controls the nose to climb or dive, yaw turns the rudder to the left or right, and roll rotates the jet around its axis without adjusting the posture or pitch of the nose. Learning how to coordinate these controls together makes the maneuvering smoother and simplifies tracking enemies or evasive maneuvers from incoming enemy fire. The understanding of the three individual inputs truly makes the targeting abilities of jets smoother and more precise than turning abruptly, as most players would think of a turn when flying jets, which is less accurate and slows your speed.

Tips for Dogfighting

Dogfights in jets involve some strategy as well as reflexes. One tactic is to approach head-on so that you have the first shot. You will be using controlled braking and tight turns to stay with the target. When an enemy has a lock on you, you can use loops or sudden descents to break a missile lock and take advantage of an opening for a counter shot. Be sure to coordinate with your teammates and pull an enemy into friendly airspace for mutual support.

Maximizing Speed and Maneuverability

Maintaining the proper speed is key. If you slow down too much to stall the jet, it will make you vulnerable. If you go too fast, making a tight turn may not be able to be done. Players should always use the throttle to maintain an appropriate speed while maneuvering, and the afterburner if needed for a quick maneuver or evading.  You want to be able to maintain a minimum altitude for flight, while also controlling the altitude appropriately; higher altitudes allow for better visibility and response time, but they also put you in a place of potential higher vulnerability within anti-air capabilities and other jets in general.

Training and Skill Development

Like with anything, developing skill in jet combat requires practice. You can practice alone or through custom servers, which is a great place to get acclimated to the controls and practice some different maneuvers. Checking out a variety of tutorials and gameplay tutorials is a great way to explore advanced tactics. Finding a squad or teammates that also focus on air combat will help you develop team coordination and situation awareness. You’ll want to practice often enough, and with a schedule that allows you to develop proficiency at the dogfight skill level, as well as combinations of ground support tasks.

It takes time to become exceptional while flying in Battlefield 6, but with some support in understanding the controls, speed performance while flying, and tactical application of flight maneuvers, any player will find themselves a factor up in the sky.
