EA and Battlefield Studios have come together to reveal new details regarding a major Day 1 patch for Battlefield 6, that will include over 200 gameplay enhancements, bug fixes, and changes to balance the gameplay. This patch intends to polish the game before it becomes available to the public through addressing a lot of the feedback that was provided during the open beta test.

Day-One Patch Overview

The patch will contain various changes to player movement, the weapons, and the general feel of the gameplay itself. Movement should now feel sharper and have a more responsive feel addressing pacing and animation transitions. Another additional balance patch was applied to various automatic rifles, which changed the recoil so that burst fire at longer distances feels more controllable. The developers also resolved issues with attachments not appearing properly, or not being able to select them during attachment selection, which will improve the easeiness of customizing weapons.

The gadgets as well as other utilities have had significant improvements done. The LTLM II now has clearer deployment visuals, the MBT-LAW has increased missile tracking with improved targeting, and the MAS 148 Glaive has more consistent damage output and missile pathing. For the sake of balance, spawn beacons now only allow for one spawned per player and four spawned for a squad maximum.

Map, UI and Audio Adjustments

Maps such as Operation Firestorm and Siege of Cairo have received updates to address issues with lighting, performance optimizations, and fixes for spawn-kill exploit zones. Game modes we know, such as Rush and Breakthrough, have been rebalanced to give both attackers and defenders a more equal chance of success in matches.

The interface and HUD has received a much needed overhaul, now with clearer icons, more readable minimaps, and better visibility for pings. Players can now also customize additional options, such as voice chat volume, camera roll, and sprint bobbing, to ensure improved comfort and accessibility. Audio has also received improvements with crisper weapon effects, clearer vehicle sounds, and a more immersive experience from the audio of the environment.

Post Launch Roadmap

To follow-up the launch patch, EA has outlined a number of features they are looking at for future patches. We’ve heard there may be naval combat coming in the future, as well as a possible return of the the Little Bird helicopter. The devs are also looking to improve platoon functionality in the future, as well as improve squad mechanics. Season one of the game is projected to start on October 28th, and we should see some new maps and weapons rotating in. Finally, it was also stated that a possible battle royale patch could be expected down the line too.
