Battlefield 6 Beta Weekend 2: New Maps, Modes, and Records

fragster Ahsan Kabir 11. August 2025

Battlefield 6’s second weekend Open Beta has finally rolled around, introducing more content, larger player counts, and also some of the changes that players have been demanding. This period of the beta runs from August 14 at 8:00 UTC to August 18 at 8:00 UTC, providing players once more with an opportunity to play last weekend’s maps and modes, as well as some fresh additions.

What’s New in Battlefield 6 Beta Weekend 2

New Map – Empire State

The largest addition is Empire State, a map largely for infantry combat in the Brooklyn city streets. Fights take place in tight alleys, breakable cover, and there is some vertical gameplay as well. It attempts to make close combat intense but still rewarding for clever movement.

New Modes

Rush

The fan favorite Rush mode returns, where attackers must destroy M-Com stations as defenders attempt to prevent them. It is a quicker gameplay and plays on objectives more so than Conquest does.

Squad Deathmatch

This one is a small team; squads only fight in order to hit the kill limit first. No other objectives besides to outscore the opposing team, so it is all about fighting.

Returning Content

Beta maps still exist – Siege of Cairo, Liberation Peak, Iberian Offensive. There are Modes such as Conquest, Breakthrough, Domination, King of the Hill, and Closed Weapon Conquest.

Beta Performance and Player Feedback

Record Numbers

The initial beta weekend reached more than 521,000 concurrent players on Steam, the highest in the series’ history, even surpassing all Call of Duty games in player numbers. Combined, over 5 million players participated between August 7–11.

Gameplay Concerns

Several players reported their “unexpectedly fast” time-to-death (TTD). Players are being requested by developers to provide recorded gameplay to determine where the issue lies. Weapon balancing also comes up, with some attachment configurations making weapons feel too equal.

Technical Issues

In PC, some users experienced Secure Boot errors, DirectX device issues, and overlay conflicts. EA has previously shared fixes and workarounds for these.

Why This Weekend Matters

This second beta weekend is not only about putting more maps in, it is also for trying servers again, gathering more player feedback, and balancing before launch. Work from beta transfers to the final game, so early play is an advantage in unlocks.

What Players Can Expect

  • New urban battles in the Empire State
  • Old favorite Rush returns
  • Squad-only battles in Squad Deathmatch
  • Opportunity to impact the final balancing

With a combination of known material and new updates, this weekend is significant to ensure that the Battlefield 6 launch goes smoothly.
