Event Overview and Requirements

To unlock this event, players must first complete Archon Quest Prologue: Act 3 and reach at least Adventure Rank 20. Once these conditions are met, start the quest titled “Those Strange and Intriguing Questions” in Port Ormos, where Akademiya researchers will set you on your journey.

Note: If you log into the game for the first time after this event became available, it’d be pretty hard to miss as there’s a banner for it that appears on your screen.

The Genshin Impact new event, “The Battle of Imagined Arrays”, is divided into two main segments:

Companion Caper Chronicles – an auto-chess minigame where you have to strategically build a 4-member team and place them on a board to battle opponents. (Players of popular auto-chess games like Riot Games’ Teamfight Tactics or Moonton’s Magic Chess: Go Go will be familiar with this.)
Fruit Supplement Survey – a connecting puzzle game which asks you to harvest different types of fruits through linking identical fruits together. Furthermore, you’ll also have to collect buffs or clear obstacles along the way.

Both activities contribute to your Speculative Records, which in turn increase your Data Speculation Level—a system that unlocks buffs and better rewards as you progress. To start playing either minigame, Visit Darwish’s (Companion Caper Chronicles) or Atashye’s (Fruit Supplement Survey) respective stalls. You’ll get a brief tutorial for each minigame at the start.

Fruit Supplement Survey

In contrast to the combat-heavy Chronicles, this mode focuses on a matching mini-game. You’ll collect fruit by linking ones of the same color. It may sound simple, but each level increases in difficulty. Completing these stages also grants Speculative Records and helps with overall progression in the Genshin Impact new event.

It’s recommended to complete this minigame first to unlock Speculation Levels in advance. This would give you initial buffs before battling in Companion Caper Chronicles.

Companion Caper Chronicles

This is the main combat portion of the event. You can travel along two routes—Traces in the Whispering Forest and Trek Through the Rasping Desert—and battle enemy waves. These stages are repeatable, and each run earns you Speculative Records. You can earn up to 5,000 Records per route, so grinding efficiently is key.

Each stage also randomly provides Companion Pieces and equipment that give unique effects in battle. As your Data Speculation Level rises, you’ll unlock benefits like more lives, starting buffs, and additional gear slots.

Traces in the Whispering Forest

Recommended Strategy: Deploy 2 Fungi and 2 Saurian units to unlock their Species Feature. All three Act bosses in this route are weak to either Pyro or ranged attacks, so securing multiple copies of Qucusaurus will give you a huge benefit. We recommend also investing in at least one melee unit to tank damage and protect your ranged units.

1 Qucusaurus (Damage)
1 Floating Hydro Fungus (Healing/Support)
1 Tatankasaurus (Tank)
1 Whirling Electro Fungus (Damage)

Trek Through the Rasping Desert

Recommended Strategy: Deploy 3/4 Saurian Warrior and 0/1 Fungi units on the board. Healing has an advantage during all the boss fights. In the early game, you can get a copy of the Floating Hydro Fungus for healing if you cannot find all 4 Saurian Warrior units for the Species Feature. You can either replace it with a Saurian Warrior later or let it stay for additional healing, especially if you get the “Saurian Warrior’s Banner of Recognition” equipment.

1 Qucusaurus Warrior (Ranged Damage)
1 Koholasaurus Warrior (Ranged Damage)
1 Iktomisaurus Warrior (Ranged Damage)
1 Tatankasaurus Warrior (Melee Damage/Tank)

Genshin Impact New Event Rewards

Completing The Genshin Impact new event offers a range of valuable items as rewards. In total, completing both minigames gives you:

11,500 Speculative Records
600 Primogems
440,000 Mora
32 Hero’s Wit
64 Mystic Enhancement Ore
4 Sanctifying Unction
30 Talent Level Up Materials
22 Character Ascension Materials (Elemental Fragments)

In addition, collecting a total of 10,000 Speculative Records will reward you with the following from the “Invite Character” tab:

350 Primogems
150,000 Mora
3 Hero’s Wit
40 Mystic Enhancement Ore
9 Talent Level Up Materials
1 Crown of Insight
Free 4-star Electro bow user, Sethos (after collecting 7,500 Records)
