Bandai Namco has provided financial support to SuperGaming, the Pune-based game developer behind hit mobile games like MaskGun and Silly Royale as well as the upcoming Battle Royale title Indus.

The Japanese gaming behemoth Bandai Namco Entertainment has invested in Pune-based game studio SuperGaming. Super Gaming creates, produces, and distributes its game development engine platform in addition to creating and publishing mobile game applications, mostly for the Indian market.

With the help of this investment from Bandai Namco, Super Gaming intend to build their company by fusing their knowledge of IPs with a better understanding of the Asian market, which is predicted to continue expanding in the coming years. Previously, Akatsuki Entertainment Technology Fund, Skycatcher, BAce Capital, and Dream Incubator invested $5.5 million in the business as part of its Series A funding.

The new investment is being made as part of the Japanese publisher’s Bandai Namco Entertainment 021 Fund, which was set up in April 2022 to expand its business in the Asian market. In addition to supporting SuperGaming, the firm recently announced plans to support DeepMotion, a company that develops AI-based automatic motion identification technology.

As the creator and publisher of several popular video game titles, including Pac-Man, Tekken, Dragon Ball, and Dark Souls, Bandai Namco is a household name in the gaming world but the company intent to expand its territories to new boundaries. The company has made huge investments in the world of AR/VR, metaverse, AI, blockchain, and more.

SuperGaming was established in 2019 and has created several well-known games, including the multiplayer shooter MaskGun, the social deduction game Silly Royale, the tower defense game Tower Conquest, and a Web3 version called Tower Conquest: Metaverse Edition. According to the company, its game library has more than 300 million players.

Also, it is developing the epic Indus battle royale game, which draws significantly from Indian mythology and culture and uses the Indus Valley civilization as its setting. It takes place in Indo-Futurism, which the production company defines as a futuristic environment that explores and represents Indian culture.

Players will be dropped onto the map, as in other battle royale games, where they must hunt for supplies, fight, and kill everyone standing in their way. The game will also feature a new tool Cosmium, which randomly appears during the game at a random position and, when seized, grants the holder a direct victory.

The upcoming video game will feature Heena Sidhu as a playable character. She is an Olympic athlete and the first pistol shooter from India to be ranked first in the world by the International Shooting Sports Federation (ISSF).
