You know that esports is a serious industry when you have 19-year-olds surpassing the $1 million mark from tournaments alone. The latest example is Valerii “b1t” Vakhovskyi, whose CS:GO career started in 2019 at Natus Vincere Junior.

Just 15 months later, he was asked to join the main team and he’s been playing alongside Aleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev ever since.

B1t’s qualities as a CS:GO player

Having s1mple by your side has got to feel amazing for a player as young as b1t. But we shouldn’t think for a moment that s1mple is the only reason why his career has been so successful. B1t already demonstrated that he can carry his team if required and his contribution to Na’Vi’s success has been significant.

B1t is a highly methodical player and his technique is phenomenal. How many CS:GO players have a 60% headshot rate? Probably not that many.

From the outside, it’s hard to decipher exactly what b1t’s role is within Na’Vi. But one thing is certain: he’s doing a great job at it.

In 2021, b1t ranked ninth in the top of the best CS:GO players of the year. His teammate s1mple won that competition, but he wasn’t that far behind him in statistics.

B1t’s CS:GO achievements

B1t joined Natus Vincere’s main lineup at the end of 2020 and the very next year, Na’Vi had the best CS:GO season in its history.

The team won numerous S-tier tournaments, including BLAST Premier: Global Final 2020, IEM Cologne, ESL Pro League Season 14, PGL Major Stockholm, BLAST Premier: Fall Finals 2021, and BLAST Premier: World Final 2021.

In addition to all these trophies, Na’Vi also won the Intel Grand Slam that year and received $1 million for their triumphs.

Being part of all this success, b1t made quite a bit of money and became the youngest millionaire in the history of CS:GO.

Other successful esports athletes

In the history of esports, there have been even younger players who won a lot of money before reaching the age of 20. In Dota 2 for instance, there are lots of young millionaires who won The International and got rich overnight. The youngest of them was Sumail “SumaiL” Hassan, who won The International 2015 at the age of 16.

The world of esports is becoming more and more like the world of traditional sports and opportunities abound. In recent months, after years of stagnation, Dota 2 has surpassed the 500.000 average concurrent players mark once more. The game is now thriving and hopefully, 2023 will be another year of growth.
