Natus Vincere has added Valeriy “B1T” Vakhovskiy to its CS:GO roster for the BLAST Premier Fall Finals, with the 17-year-old set to be used for specific maps in the future. The organization announced the news on Tuesday, shortly before their entertaining 2-1 win over Astralis, a match which saw B1T compete against a T1 team for the first time.

Why B1T Made the Step Up from Na’Vi Junior

The Ukrainian had previously been practicing with the team, with Na’Vi having announced their intention to utilize his skills on particular maps, like they Vitality has done of late with Nabil “Nivera” Benrlitom. Speaking on Vakhovskiy’s arrival, Natus Vincere said that “Valeriy [B1T] consistently shows a high level of play in Na’Vi Junior and is ready to try his hands at the tier-one stage.”

B1T had been with the Na’Vi Junior team for over a year, with his debut against Astralis demonstrating that he was more than ready to make the step up. The likes of Vitality and Astralis have been making use of expanded rosters during 2020, partly due to the fact that many players have spoken of the stress caused by the demanding CS:Go schedule.
Na’Vi Head Coach Andrey “B1ad3” Gorodenskiy has also had his say on the arrival of B1T and the use of expanded rosters, stating that “with the correct approach, the model with a wider roster is rather successful. I like the idea of refining players for certain maps. In a long run, it will strengthen our roster.”

Who Will Make Way for B1T?

It is likely that B1T will replace Egor “flamie” Vasilev when his skills are taken advantage of for certain maps, with the Russian having been playing alongside compatriots Ilya “Perfecto” Zalutskiy, Denis “electronic” Sharipov and in-game leader Kirill “Boomb14” Mikhailov, as well as Ukrainian Oleksandr “S1mple” Kostyliev.

It was certainly a debut to remember for B1T, who helped Natus Vincere on Tuesday, with the Ukrainian’s having come out on top thanks to a 16-14 final round win. The team will continue their group stage campaign against Vitality on Wednesday.
