The moves begin in one of the most successful organizations in the CS:GO scene, Astralos. In the last few hours, it has been confirmed that Alexander “Altekz” Givskov, Astralis academy player, was promoted to the main team as a sixth player.
While this is the addition of a sixth player to the team’s lineup, there is no doubt that the Danish organization is considering making several changes. The fact that their CS:GO team is not attending a Major for the second time in a row is a failure for them. Moreover, if we consider this organization’s history, we can be sure that they are going through the worst sporting situation in its most recent history.
Astralis promotes Altekz to CS:GO main lineup
After the debacle at the Paris Major RMRs, where Astralis was left out of the last Major in the CS:GO era, the organization was expected to change the roster. However, in the last few hours, it was announced through the organization’s official Twitter account that Altekz, an academy player, has been promoted to the main CS:GO team.
Team update:
As a result of @Altekzzz's consistent, high performance on the talent line-up throughout 2023 and even before, the coaches have decided to include him in the main roster for the coming weeks. As Altekz will be working with the main team, Astralis Talent will be… pic.twitter.com/P4Cwrr90YE

While in the statement, Astralis mentions that this promotion is because Altekz had a high performance so far in 2023 in the academy team, it is not yet known if he will remain as the sixth player or if there will be any departure. Following this message, Astralis has not released any other information regarding their CS:GO lineup. In addition, it is also not detailed what role the promising 19-year-old youngster will play.
The only clear thing is that the Dane is part of Astralis’ main lineup because the coaches have made that decision because of his excellent performance. Moreover, we will likely see him in some official games in the coming weeks.
About Altekz
The 19-year-old is relatively new to the competitive CS:GO scene. His beginnings date back to barely 2020 when he played with the Amateurs Lucendi Esports and Atlando Esports teams. Then, he was picked up by MASONIC, a Danish organization popular for helping develop young talent in their country.
Finally, in March 2021, Altekz signed with Astralis to join the academy team. Unlike the main team, the Astralis Talent team has a positive track record in their most recent tournaments.
Future of Astralis
While Astralis may be just testing some players for the team’s future, this may be a golden opportunity for Altekz to be a permanent part of the main team. On the other hand, we should remember that Astralis had the most CS:GO Major titles in its showcase, with four total. However, the team’s elimination in the RMRs for the Paris Major could shake things up in the starting squad.
Astralis had a lot of trouble throughout the qualifiers, but Nicolai “dev1ce” Reedtz and Benjamin “blameF” Bremer stuck up for the team to try to lead them to victory.

If Altekz can play alongside these two Danish beasts and does his best, it could be his definitive promotion to the team. Also, this would mean that some of the most underperforming players could leave the team.
In the meantime, Astralis will be back in action at the Brazy Party, to be played from April 26th to May 3rd. In this tournament, we will have the participation of very good teams, and it is an ideal opportunity for Altekz to prove his worth at the highest competitive level.
