You can spot these events by looking for the diamond link icon next to the map in the menu. The event can be harder or easier depending on the map, but the rewards stay the same.
Once deployed into a Matriarch event map, the boss spawns in predetermined locations: near the Water Towers area in Dam Battlegrounds, south of the Warehouse complex near the Ridgeline in The Blue Gate, and between Rocket Assembly and Launch Towers in Spaceport.

For your backup weapon, the Venator is great for handling the extra enemies the Matriarch calls in, like Wasps and Hornets. Take the high ground and set up good cover before you start fighting. The Matriarch sometimes uses a shield that makes a dome and destroys all bullets and rockets, so stop shooting during this time to save ammo.
At first, attack the tough leg joints with the Hullcracker to break the armor and show the weak spots. Once you see the cores, keep shooting them to lower its health quickly. When the Matriarch goes down, shoot the exposed head cores on top right away, since these are its weakest spots and will help you finish the fight faster.
Managing Threats and Securing Loot
The Matriarch keeps calling in smaller ARC enemies during the fight, and tougher ones like Bastions and Rocketeers show up near the end. Stay in safe spots like Pipeline Tower in Dam Battlegrounds, where you can set up ziplines, put barricades at doors, and keep an eye on who is coming in. Bring a weapon like the Torrente or Stitcher that is good for fighting people who might try to steal your loot.
After you beat the Matriarch, quickly grab the main pile of loot, which has top materials like ARC Alloy, Advanced ARC Powercells, Magnetic Accelerators, and the valuable Matriarch Reactor for making legendary weapons.
Put Matriarch Reactors in your safe pocket right away so you keep them even if you get taken out. Plan how you will leave the map early, and watch the timer for the ARC Satellite Strike that clears the map every 30 minutes. It is better to leave early than to lose everything in a last-minute rush.
