fragster Stalingrad Dollosa 9. January 2026

Summary:

  • The quest requires collecting Fertilizer from Grandioso Apartments and a Water Pump from Piazza Roma.
  • Both objectives must be completed in a single raid with successful extraction to Speranza to progress the questline.
  • Bring an augment with two safe pockets to protect quest items and consider using a Raider Hatch Key for safer extraction.
The Unexpected Initiative quest in ARC Raiders sends players back to the Buried City on a scavenging mission for Tian Wen. This quest comes after the Industrial Espionage mission and is a simple collection task. However, you still need to plan ahead because you have to finish it all in one raid. Here’s everything you need to know before proceeding with the quest.

Quest Requirements and Preparation

The Unexpected Initiative has strict rules that make it different from normal exploration tasks. You must finish all quest goals in one Buried City raid, and you have to escape successfully. If you get knocked out before reaching Speranza, you have to start over.
The game gives you both the Fertilizer and Water Pump as items you can pick up. But you can also use ones from your own inventory. But you still need to visit both marked spots and use the yellow quest prompts to finish the objectives, no matter which items you leave with.
Equip an upgrade with two safe pockets before you start to make sure you keep both quest items even if you get eliminated. This helps a lot because the Buried City has plenty of players and ARC patrols. Aside from that, you might also want to carry a Raider Hatch Key in your safe pocket. This lets you leave the area quietly without being seen at busy metro stations. Using cheap or free gear keeps your losses low for this quest, focus on moving quickly and staying safe.

Locating Fertilizer at Grandioso Apartments

Grandioso Apartments sits on the west side of the Buried City map and is a hotspot for scavengers and raiders alike. This big apartment building draws lots of raiders because it has more loot than most places, so you are likely to run into other players. Stay alert when you get close and be ready to leave or protect yourself if other players try to get the same items.
When you get to Grandioso Apartments, find the zipline inside that quickly takes you to the top floor. Ride this zipline up, then go up the last staircase to the roof. The Fertilizer shows up inside orange planting pots spread around the roof.
Look for the yellow prompt that marks quest items, which is different from the usual white prompts on regular containers. The pot with the Fertilizer can change each time, so check a few planters if you do not find it right away. Once you have it, put the Fertilizer in a safe pocket and get ready to head northeast to Piazza Roma for the next item.

Finding the Water Pump at Piazza Roma

Piazza Roma is located in the northeast of the Grandioso Apartments. This area has several buildings, but you are looking for one of two connected apartment towers southwest of the Piazza Roma map label. These towers are joined by scrap-metal bridges and have a zipline between them, so they are easy to spot.
The easiest way is to walk between your target building and the one next to it to find a yellow ladder that goes straight to the roof. This ladder lets you skip going inside, which saves time and keeps you safer. You can also use a zipline from another Piazza Roma rooftop. With that, you can jump onto the upper floors, then climb your way, or just use the stairs from the ground floor.
Once you are on the roof, look in the western corner near the big planters for hydroponic equipment. The Water Pump spot shows a yellow prompt just like the Fertilizer’s quest marker. Use this spot to pick up the Water Pump and put it in your second safe pocket right away. With both quest items safe, you are ready to leave and finish the mission.

Completing Extraction and Quest Turn-In

With the Fertilizer and Water Pump safely in your safe pockets, go to the nearest open metro station to leave for Speranza. If you brought a Raider Hatch Key as suggested, use it instead to leave the Buried City without showing your location at busy extraction spots. Watch your surroundings as you travel. Even though Piazza Roma has fewer players, ARC enemies patrol both rooftops, and Snitches can alert others to where you are.
Try to sneak around and avoid fighting when you can. Solo players can finish Unexpected Initiative without much trouble by staying out of fights and just focusing on the two collection goals. The quest is simple enough for even newer players, but having to do it all in one raid means you need to be careful and avoid risky situations that could get you knocked out.
Once you get out safely and return to Speranza, talk to Tian Wen to hand in both collected items. Finishing the quest gives you your reward and lets you move on to the next mission in her questline. Plan your route before you start, focus on getting out safely instead of grabbing extra loot, and the Unexpected Initiative becomes a simple but satisfying collection quest that helps you get closer to one of the Buried City’s most important quest givers.
