Season 26 of Apex Legends just arrived, and the patch came with lots of new features, balance changes, and a few surprise additions that were based on what the community had been asking for. Respawn Entertainment, along with EA, has tried to improve both core gameplay and overall experience, while also refreshing some older systems that weren’t working very well. Here’s a breakdown of all changes and additions that came through the Season 26 patch.
Apex Legends Season 26 Brings Big Updates
Accolades System Now Highlights More Than Just Wins
The biggest new feature in this update is Accolades, a way to show off more kinds of skills and moments from a match, not just kills or wins. It recognizes plays like blocking damage for teammates or pulling off tricky eliminations, which normally don’t get enough credit.
Accolades are available in every mode: Ranked, Unranked, Mixtape, and Wildcard. Each Accolade has four different tiers, and players can earn XP as they reach each one. You can earn many Accolades in a day, but the XP from them gets capped at 2200 XP per day. The top three show up on your Gladiator Card after matches.

Everything gets tracked under Account Progression, where you’ll also see your stats per mode and which ones you already earned.
Reward Summary Flow Gets Cleaner
Before, many players got confused by all the pop-ups for rewards. Now, Season 26 brings a new Reward Summary screen. It shows everything you earned after the match in a single place, even the rewards that were given silently before.
This change will help players understand what they got and why, without losing time in unnecessary menus.
Legend Amps
A new item type called Amps has been added in loot. These purple-tier modifiers give you temporary abilities or boosts that can be used during a match. They’re rare early on but become more available after bins reset. Also, Vaults and Hot Zones have better chances to spawn them.

There are five Amp types:
- Infinite Ammo Amp: Gives unlimited bullets for normal weapons. Locks 2 inventory slots, but still can store ammo there.
- Bottomless Batteries Amp: Batteries are not used up when you use them, but you need at least 2 to activate them.
- Over Armor Amp: Adds 25 extra shield. Works with Ring Expert, but won’t go beyond 125 shield.
- Heal Overflow Amp: After using a syringe or cell, your HP or shield keeps healing slowly unless interrupted.
- Power Booster Amp: Reduces cooldown of tactical and ult. Also refreshes Tac ability if you knock an enemy.
These Amps change how players can approach fights or survive longer, especially in intense Ranked matches.
E-District Gets New Lighting, Map Updates Live
E-District has been updated to feature a daytime setting, which improves visibility and overall appearance. There are also small layout adjustments: new doorways for better shop access and less clutter for a cleaner view.

Wildcard Modes Return in Two Phases
Wildcard makes its comeback in Season 26 with big twists. Two phases are planned:
Aug 5 – Aug 18, 2025:
- Second Chance Revive System
- Self-Revive Kits
- Auto looting
- Simplified inventory
- EVO Orbs
- Reduced respawn timers
- Health regen kickstarts
- Some legends can stack
- Shield and Ult partial restore after respawn
Sept 9 – Sept 15, 2025:
- Wildcard goes back to normal core rules
Ranked Mode Gets Drop Zone Overhaul
The Ranked playlist now uses Drop Zones, where squads are assigned landing zones before the match starts. Here’s how it works:
- At match start, teams are assigned POIs randomly
- Before Legend selection, you’ll see a map preview of your drop area
- After picking your Legend, squads launch from the ship toward their assigned zone
- Threats (nearby enemy squads) are shown as warnings
- Heat Shields are disabled in Ranked to avoid unfair fights in the ring
This change adds more structure and makes Ranked feel more tactical.
Gameplay and Quality-of-Life Fixes
A lot of smaller but meaningful tweaks also came in:
- Bots now behave smartly
- Lifeline enemy color tweaks to help identify threats better
- Newcastle’s Ult can now go over Alter’s portal
- Wattson fences stay active even if the user leaves or disconnects
- Replicator changed color from purple to blue for better readability
- Vantage scan no longer shows the shields of dead enemies
- VFX: Less smoke (90% less), less debris (40% less) on armor/flesh hits
- Audio: Footsteps on roofs clearer, skydive sounds lower in volume
- Mic Monitor: Now shows for solo players in the lobby
- Graphics: Better brightness in shadows and highlights with the new tone-mapping system
Season 26 brings one of the biggest sets of changes in Apex Legends in recent updates. From fresh loot mechanics with Amps, smarter challenge systems, more rewarding progression, to a Ranked overhaul that makes each match more intense, it’s clear that Respawn is doubling down on what fans have been asking.
