Apex Legends Season 25 Patch: Ash Nerfed, Class Rework and Meta Shakeup

fragster James Steward 19. July 2025

The Season 25 patch in Apex Legends is released with far-reaching changes, with a concentration on legend overhauls, nerfs, buffs, and major class revamps to legends. The changes represent a major meta shift that casual and professional players, esports analysts not excluded, will need to study in depth.

Key Legend Class Changes

Revenant: From Skirmisher to Assault

Respawn moved Revenant from the Skirmisher to the Assault class. Revenant is no longer able to scan care packages, a useful Skirmisher action he used to be able to do, but receives Assault perks, and he can open special compartments in red Smart Supply Bins. Because of this class move, there have been some ability changes:

  • Minimum pounce velocity: Raised from 700 to 800.
  • Maximum speed: Increased to 1400 from 1150.
  • Improved ground detection: Revenant is now able to shoot earlier after landing.

Revenant gets quicker and more responsive to aggressive, assault-style play.

Ash: Nerfs At Last

Players have been eagerly anticipating Ash nerfs since her Season 24 popularity peak. Ash receives substantial changes in this patch to remove dominance:

  • Class change: Now Skirmisher (formerly Assault).
  • Maximum range: Reduced from 100 metres to 75 metres.
  • Upgrade rework: Charged Knock removed, replaced by Marked for Death. This upgrade allows Ash to mark enemy death-boxes on the map.

These nerfs are intended to balance Ash’s influence on both the public and professional lobbies.

Alter: Mobility Adjustment

Alter, whose name is otherwise associated with innovative portal plays, is given changes that limit overbearing moves:

  • Time it takes for fallen teammates to reach portals: Increased by 1 second.
  • Chase portal staying open: Upped from 8 to 10 seconds.
  • Portal warning display: Reduced from 3.5 seconds to 2.5 seconds.
  • Shift upgrade: Friends is replaced by Controller of Worlds, providing her with Controller class abilities.

These provide more opportunities for the enemies to counter Alter’s escapes.

Other Buffs and Nerfs

A handful of other Legends are receiving targeted balance changes in this patch.

Ballistic

  1. Tempest (Ultimate): Now, Ballistic alone receives the speed bonus, no one else.
  2. Tactical: Tactical charges reduced from 2 to 1.

Vantage

  1. Ultimate: Laser active window lowered from 15 seconds to 10 seconds.
  2. Upgrade: Sniper Cover gun-shield’s hitpoints were boosted significantly (40 HP → 75 HP), with new visuals.

Wattson

  1. Upgrade: Ultimate Conductor now gives 50% ultimate charge (instead of 30%) for each knock burst.

Competitive and Esports Impact

These meta changes occur in the wake of the ALGS Split 2 Pro League Qualifiers for APAC North (August 1–3, 2025). Pro teams will shortly have to re-evaluate their rosters and playstyles as legend picks and class value significantly change.
