With the launch of Season 22, the Apex team have decided to double down on their anti-cheat measures by implementing major overhauls to their current anti-cheat system. The measures are meant to get ahead of the latest exploits, enhance the overall experience for players and protect the game’s integrity as a whole.
Cheating in Apex has been a pressing issue within the community since the game’s inception and is something the development team don’t take lightly going by the numerous monthly bans issued. With the recent Season 22 update, the team have employed a whole slew of measures to help curb new exploits discovered by cheaters in recent months.
In a recent communication from Apex’s official page, the developers aired out their active concern on how cheating is a huge recurring problem in the game that will never truly end unless further action is taken. They stressed how the current state is a far cry from their ideal image of the game and thus they would be clamping down harder on cheaters through their updated anti-cheat system.
Without giving out too much information to the public, the following are some of the key aspects they highlighted in their communication.
Current State of Apex with New Anti-Cheat Measures
In its current state, Apex has issued more than 6 million bans since its launch while also averaging about 100,000 bans per month, all in a bid to create a conducive environment for genuine players.
Team Investment
They have a dedicated team that actively monitors and responds to reports on suspicious activity 24/7 especially in the most heavily affected regions such as the Asia-Pacific region. These teams actively improve the game by recording prohibited behavior, muting problematic players, ejecting players from matches and banning unruly players.
Technologies Implemented
Apex employs a robust kernel-level anti-cheat service along with a bunch of other industry standard and proprietary tools to help in their anti-cheat campaigns. This system can detect and respond to suspicious behavior accurately while also implementing counter measures that detect, disrupt and disable cheating software.
Personal Responsibility
The Apex development team emphasize the importance of players in creating a cheat-free gaming experience through actively reporting any suspicious activity they may encounter. Players are advised to report cheating through the in-game channels as well as through EA help.
For players that identify vulnerabilities in the game or flaws in the anti-cheat system, they are advised to forward their finding through their CVD program. These are the official channels available to gamers and are the quickest way to receiving tangible feedback and action from the development team.
With the help of the players and the new measures implemented by the Apex Team, the developers will be able to close the gap between report and feedback allowing for real-time resolutions to player challenges and an enhanced gaming experience for committed fans of the game.
